The 1979-80 girls’ basketball team dribbled their way through another year of basketball. The girls under the fine coaching talents of Bob Meyer compiled an even-steven record of 6-6. Many of the games were close, and were either won or lost by a margin of a few points. The varsity squad was led by 2 Seniors and 5 Juniors. Several girls received All-Conference honors. Deanna Davidson 1st team. Lisa Rosane 2nd team, and Barb Berlin received Honorable Mention. A powerful force will be back next year to lead the team. Back row: Choat. Afrank. Warner. Rosane. The small but determined girls’ track team consisted of eight members, four of which were new to St. Ed’s team. Although not many points were earned, there was effort behind the ones made. Of our shot and discus women. Krlstal Kuntzelman placed 6th at Conference by throwing the shot 28’. Carla and Barb Berlin had distances of 26'4” and 27 Vi respectively. These two girls along with Kuntzelman placed 4th In shot at Osceola. Kathy Reardon threw the discus 70’; Barb Berlin 77’. Kuntzelman. Barb Berlin, and Kathy Reardon placed 3rd In discus at Osceola. These four girls also made up the 400 meter relay team. Lisa Rosane placed 3rd at Osceola In the 400 meter run with a time of 66.5 seconds. Deanna Davidson, the first St. Ed girl to try the 3200 meter run. placed 3rd at Osceola and earned the 5th place medals at Conference and Districts. Her best time was 13:50. She received 4th at Osceola with a time of 6:20 In the mile run. The rookie 800 meter runner Connie Llghtner ran 2:49 at Conference where she settled for 7th. Lanette Sorensen. Connie Llghtner, Deanna Davidson, and Lisa Rosane ran the mile and 2-mile relays and placed 4th In both events. The four girls who earned the 6th place medal In the 2-mile relay with a time of 11:45 at Conference were Kathy Reardon. Barb Berlin. Connie Llghtner, and Deanna Davison. The girls achieved much despite their disadvantages and lived up to their motto. “We might be crazy, but not lazy.” ‘Duet
