Pep Club an organization of the past? The 1977-78 athletic season was minus a pep club, however, an unorganized group of spirit boosters backed up the cheerleaders and sport events. People wanting to give the St. Edward teams support would sign up for the bus a couple of days before the event. With so many activities going on - the group chose to discontinue pep club. But next year a pep club will be back - strong as ever! 25

Front Row: Meridith, Carlson, Bremer, Clark, Werner, Riggs, Stoley, Wells, Thompson. 26 Football 77 The St. Edwards Beavers experienced another successful football season in 1977. They finished the 1977 campaign with a 10-1 record. The Beavers, 1976 Class C-2 State Champions, only blemish came at the hands of Bancroft 30-13 in the semifinals of the Class D State Play-offs. The Beavers began the season with thoughts of a possible 2nd State Championship. They won their first four games and barely escaped defeat at the hands of Fullerton in game number five. The Fullerton - St. Edward game was truly a classic. The Beavers coasted through their last four games; and completed their regular season at 9-0. The team traveled to Curtis and defeated Medicine Valley 41-20 in the first round of the State Play-offs. The following Saturday the Beavers unbeaten string of 29 games was snapped by Bancroft. Greg Stevens, Brad Williams , John Kmiecik, and Russ Rimovsky re -ceived All-State honors, with Ted Jensen receiving Honorable Mention. These individuals along with Tod Clark were also Goldenrod Conference selections. The Beavers won the title of Goldenrod West Division Champions. They were also rated third in the state in Class D.
