The kids arrived in Lincoln about noon and spent the afternoon shopping. Later, they all boarded the bus again and headed for Valentino's where they ate supper. Eagerly, they returned to Pershing Auditorium and got in on one of the greatest BTO concerts of all time. They returned home early the next morning, tired and happy. Seniors . . . Bid SEHS Farewell At last the moment had arrived! It was a hot day, of course, but very few of the graduating class really noticed it as they squirmed their way through all of t the marching and preliminaries. Heads bowed for Father Lukes as he gave the Invocation. In fine style, Alan Kasper gave his fellow classmates an insight into their future. Shortly after that, Carol Cumming took the stand and reminded them of all their good times in high school. Finally came the moment for the presentation of the diplomas and awards. With smiling faces and a few tears, the graduates stood to receive their will-wishers. 21 1 Lorrie Baustert 2 Morrie Baustert 3 Sherry Channer 4 Kent Cruise 5 Cynthia Dawson 6 Mark Drog 7 Terry Evans 8 Ray Fader 9 Gene Galitz 10 Barb Hoffmeister 11 Bob Janda 12 Dave Johnson 13 Tami Niemann, President 14 Ann Taylor, Vice-President 15 Vivian Johnson 16 Darlene Mausbach, Secretary 17 Mary Jeanne Cahill, Treasurer 18 Kevin Kaspar. 24 1 Darwin Homolka, 2 LaRae Kearney, 3 Loma Kearney, 4 Mike Laska, 5 Don Mahoney, 6 Jim Matson, 7 David McIntosh, 8 Jim Todd Meridith, 9 Bob Nicklasson, 10 David Niemann, 11 Jack Nordeen, 12 Monty Olson, 13 Valarie Pruden, 14 Keith Reed, 15 Doug Sindelar, 16 Ralph VanMeter, 17 Bill Wells, 18 Diane Wilson. The class, under the guidance of Mrs. Sue Pocock, put out the BEAVER BABBLE, which appeared once monthly in the ST. EDWARD ADVANCE. The class members wrote stories, took pictures, conducted surveys, and wrote editorials concerning various subjects--ranging from the commons area to girl's sports. Congratulations to the class for a successful first year. A Parry Pont, linJ T- m. i i -R) Randy Stevens, Vickie long, jLi I Pocock. Sitting: Mike Sindelar, Dianne Evans, Julie Riesling. Nicklasson. The Annual Staff, as in other years, was made up of twelve hardworking kids who ranged from Freshman class to Seniors. The staff met every available night to work on page after page after page, trying continually to meet deadlines. They worked around the numerous other activities which always seemed to be scheduled first or were more important! Under the leadership of the editor, Vickie Long, and the adviser Mrs. Mary Anne Long, the group met the challenge and kept up with the work, even though many dates for taking pictures and other such necessary items had to be cancelled due to weather and other uncontrollable factors. Annual Staff is considered an extracurricular activity, and members of the staff do not receive class credit for their work. Hours after school and in the evenings are spent producing the annual. The Student Council, with Mr. Bill Sillau as sponsor, worked to protect the rights of the student and restore many of the privileges which had been taken away. On the list of Council happenings were the handing out of report cards to the parents at Parent-Teacher conferences, the raffling of ’George, the dog' to raise money, and helping to govern the commons area. They also served on the committee to rewrite and up date the student handbook. Librarians And SE Club Librarians: Sitting, C. Dawson, C. Cumming, J. Werts, V. Pruden. Standing: J. Thompson, L. We are the Pep Club; couldn't be prouder rang through the gym and across the field as the St. Edward Pep Club cheered the Beavers on in all sports. The Pep Club, led by a great group of officers and cheerleaders, made posters, sold at the games, and cheered and cried with the teams through a lot of wins and even some losses. Though the club seemed to lose some momentum during the season, the girls solved the problems in time to finish the year showing complete support and enthusiasm for the teams. 39 Spirit, Fire, PEP CLUB MEMBERS: (picture 4) Bottom Row: (Left to Right) D. Fall activities included Powder Puff football, which was won by the Sophomore-Junior team, and Honey Sunday, proceeds of which went to the Boone County Retarded Citizens Association. Winter activities included Daddy Date Night, when all the girls entertained their fathers at supper, National F.H.A. Week, during which several things were done to promote F.H.A. or just to have fun, and the annual Sweetheart Dance, co-sponsored by the F.F.A. Several other things were planned for the year, along with regular monthly meetings. Reflections Of FHA 1st Row: (L-R) V. Long, C. Micek, C. Dawson, D. Miller, J. Kiesling, J. Werts, S. Jensen, S. Because of a tight schedule, the vocal music class was forced to contend with some rather bad times but, nevertheless, they came out with flying colors. The choir put on several concerts this year, but the best one was their rendition of Fiddler on the Roof starring Randy Stevens of St. Edward and Margarite Aim of Cedar Rapids. Sounds Of JR. The band performed at the Christmas concert and also put on a mid-winter Pops Concert with the help of the Sixth Grade Band and the Stage Band. The band also performed at District Music contest at O'Niell in April. At contest the band was also represented by the Stage Band, a Saxophone quartet, a woodwind quartet, a brass quartet, a clarinet trio, and several solos. A new performance of the schedule this year was an exchange concert with Fullerton on May 13th. This was the first year for such a performance and it is hoped that more will come in the upcoming years. The band worked hard this year and will undoubtably do well in the years to come. After the dinner, which was prepared by the Juniors' Mothers, Mr. Sillau gave the farewell to the Senior Class. At 9:00 p.m. , everyone again came to the park for the dance. The Beavers started the year off right with a football team that fought their way to the head of the class and came away with the Class C State Championship. Next came basketball where the boys took the Beaver name to the District finals for the second consecutive year. Wrestlers also sent one team member to State. With spring came track and both boys and girls had a good year, as both teams sent members to state competition. 1. Football champ patch and basketball trophy. 2. Lee Fritzges as he represented S. E. H. S. in the state High School Rodeo. 3. Boys and girls track trophies. 68 Wrestlers Make Good Beginners Wrestlers: 1st Row: (L-R) R. Fader, D. Meysenburg, D. Schack, T. Tenski, J. Kmiecek, M. Another of the new activities that was added to the list at school this year was wrestling. Under the guidance of Coach Cecil Harck, eighteen young men began at the bottom and learned the fundamentals of the sport. Although the team won no major meets, nor did they score high in their meets, they are to be commended for a great job of getting die sport started in St. Edward. Among the highlights of the season were a first place effort by Bob Hoffmeister in the St. Edward Invitational and Ron Parry's state qualifying efforts in the district meet. A special thanks goes to Larry Bird, who helped the coach and the boys. 69 Boys Track The 1975 track season proved to be a successful one for the St. Edward team. The team opened the season at the Kearney State Indoor meet, where they finished in third place and started out with some new records. The boys moved on to face some tough Class B competition at the Bergan-Midland Indoor meet. They came away with second place in band and some new records to beat. By upsetting Fullerton, the team managed to win the Conference meet for the second consecutive year. Micek won the 440, high and low hurdles in record time, while Mike Klassen and Bob Hoffmeister took shot and discus. The Polk Invitational saw the St. Edward team walk away with first place and new records in high and low hurdles. St. Edward finished third at the District meet and qualified for five spots in the state meet. Casey Micek won high and low hurdles: Mike Klassen won the shot; Alan Kaspar won second in the 880; and Bob Hoffmeister was second in discus. The basketball and track teams were coached by Mr. Don Dreesen and the football team was coached by Mr. Steve Senff. All of the teams had a very successful year. Backing the teams was the Junior High Pep Club. The Pep Club was sponsored by Miss Kathy Sayler. It consisted of five cheerleaders, one mascot, and several members. The Pep Club followed the basketball team to many victories and also gave the other teams a great deal of support. The Junior High also was active in music as they had a chorus of their own and participated in many of the music activites. In May they went to Omaha to see the Carpenters perform. The agenda for the year also included dances, parties, and the elction of Royalty. Overall, the Junior High had a very busy and active year but it was an experience for all and no one regretted it.
