In this play a murder occurs in the madhouse with the lunatics thought responsible. The mystery continues as more actors come in until finally the doctor confesses to the crime. 11 Seniors Wind Up the Year Where has another short year gone? The many memories still linger in the hearts and minds as the summer months approach with another year here for some and a new future for those finished. The leaves fall gently in the autumn around a flurry of activity of planning for another year. The gentle snow of winter comes all too soon as the year slips slowly into the past. Now the thoughts of spring bring near and create the thrilling thoughts of graduation. The future now, becomes all important. — Richard H. The Beavers had no losses, ranked £2 in the state, won the certificate of merit from the OMAHA WORLD HERALD, also the Nebraska Prep Award from the LINCOLN STAR JOURNAL, and won the Conference Championship after a lot of teamwork, long hours of practicing, and a great coaching staff. This football season brought a new meaning to school pride and the memory of an outstanding season! After Holiday Tourney In which we placed 2nd we started an 8 game winning streak, coming away with the Championship trophy from MBN Tourney, and 3rd place from the Conference. Going into District we had a 16-6 record and had top seeded team in the tourney. The highlight was beating Genoa in District finals by 2 points with a last second shot. The Beavers traveled then to Platte College to play Howells in the Regionals. It was an exciting, close game with the final score St. Ed 49, Howells 53. Basketball Schedule WE THEY Genoa 51 80 Nebr. The girls Volleyball team this season was coached by Miss Rannow and a lot of hard work and practice was put in by the team. Most of the games were away and the victory over Clarks was the night that they all remember. They also won the first game in both of the tournaments that they played in. They learned the meaning of determination and never gave up trying to win. They loved the sport and loved working together as a team even though the victories were few. GIRLS TRACK The girls track team this year was small but very mighty. They all put out 100 percent teamwork and worked very hard. The team was coached by Mr. Stark and although they did not win any of the meets they did terrific. Two girls, Lorrie Baustert and Connie Micek, attended the state track meet down in North Platte. Lorrie placed seventh in the state for the 880 yard run and Connie placed third in the state in the 440 yard run. Several school records were broken this year also. Next year will be even greater. Casey Micek — low hurdles Ed Wathen throwing the shotput This year's track squad had a great year. The team won the Genoa Invitational, Goldenrod Conference meet, Wisner-Pilger Invitational and was District Runner-up missing the District title by only one point. There were a number of outstanding performances as the boys made an all out assault on the school track records. Four school records fell to this years track squad: the 880 and 440 yard rush to Chuck Micek, the 2 mile relay (T. Evans, C. Micek, D. Christenson, and A. Kaspar), One-mile relay (S. Johnson, Chuck and Casey Micek, and A. Kaspar). The same mile relay team broke their own record at Wisner-Pilger after setting it at the Conference meet. At conference Chuck Micek captured the 880 record and Casey Micek the 180 low record. At Districts the squad qualified the mile relay team (Kaspar, Johnson, both Miceks), Casey Micek in the high and low hurdles and Mike Klassen in the shot put to travel to state at Burke High in Omaha. You can remember when you didn't get that class office you really wanted and learned how to take the disappointment better than any teacher could've taught you. You suddenly realize that you've learned more by talking to a troubled friend, getting organized for Prom, losing one of the most important football games of the year and beating the same team over again than you could've ever gotten out of a book. You start thinking that your education hasn't only taken place in classrooms, but in your car riding around on a Saturday night with all your friends, at play practice when you don't know your lines with only two weeks left before the big night, taking a walk in the country, or in the hall when Miss Right turns you down for a date. You realize that your life is your own, and that it doesn't belong to your parents, your friends, or to society at large. It's your life, you'll do what is right; live the way you think is best! As one student said: You have to live every moment to it's fullest, and realize all the good things and people involved. — Author Unknown We, the Seniors of 1974, would like to dedicate this yearbook to Mr. Larry Krause; who has been a great friend to all of us. He taught us to hold our heads high and to smile instead of frown. We would like to take this time to thank him for that and for letting us be ourselves. —The Seniors of 1974 84
