The Homecoming activities began Thursday evening with a victory march from the school, through town, to Coach Forbes's house, and to the practice field. A dummy, representing a Shamrock was burned in a large bonfire. After several yells and speeches the freshmen, sophomore, and junior attendants and king and queen candidates were announced. A parade and pep rally was held Friday afternoon. Float and banner winners were announced. Cash prizes were given by the Student Council. The junior class float won first place, sophomores second and seniors third. The Pep Club had the number one banner, junior high received second, and juniors third place. Each of the coaches and the senior boys gave a speech and the attendants and candidates were introduced. At halftime of the game Saturday night, the St. Edward marching band performed under the direction of Mrs. Carla Bartel. The band played Fanfare and did a series of pinwheels while playing Work Song March. The twirlers, Mary Baustert, Joni Schack, and Vicki Thompson did a routine to the tune of Put Your Hand in the Hand . A special fire routine was done by Mary Engstrom to the tune of Cherish . The band left the field playing the school song. At this time the attendants were presented. The night was made complete by a victory over the Shamrocks 22-0. 22 activities

Practice and hard work failed to do the trick for the girls' track team as they didn't place in any of the five meets they participated in. Homecoming Was. . . One Day Late! The game was originally scheduled for Friday night, October 6th, but was post-poned until Saturday night, October 7th because of a mix-up of dates with the referees. All through the week spirits were rising! Yes, Homecoming would soon be there with all of the class floats, prizes, the pep rally downtown, announcement of the attendants, the burning of the dummy and high hopes of a SEHS victory! All of this and then no game.. . But the dreams came true the next night when at halftime of the game, Kim Channer and Carol Kaspar were crowned the 1972 Homecoming King and Queen. First runners up were Deb Baker and Jerry Nauenburg, and Second runners up were Peg Jacobsen and Rick Schack. The junior attendants were Dianne Engstrom and Lindsey Niemann, sophomore attendants were Joni Schack and Casey Micek, and freshman attendants were Ann Taylor and Todd Meridith. activities 23
