r Democratic Victor — President Lyndon Johnson won the 1964 election by the greatest plurality and per cent of the total vote in U. S. history. Barry Goldwatcr was surrounded by fans at Knoxville, Tenn., airport September 16 as he campaigned for the presidency on the Republican ticket. The conservative senator swept to a first-ballot nomination at the convention in San Francisco. National Events in Review—1964 Nobel Prize Winner— Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., right, was greeted by Richard C. BEAVER I Offer Challenge. . . to all the students who pass through my halls. The ambition planted in them as freshmen and the sense of responsibility gained through their underclass years lead the seniors to the culmination of their high-school career, receiving their diplomas. With it as a symbol of their past achievements, they step out to seek and meet the challenge. St. Edward High School St. Edward, Nebraska 1965 DEDICATION Mr. Coy Van Meter It is with sincere gratitude that we, the Senior Class of 1965, dedicate this Beaver to Coy Van Meter, Custodian. Shoveling snow, sweeping classrooms, dusting erasers and ringing the bell are just a few of the many tasks we see him do throughout the year. Coy's hobby is fishing. He is well known for his ability to pull in the large ones from the Beaver River. For your friendship and many services throughout our high school years, we say thank you, Coy. 2 BOARD OF EDUCATION Their Varied Lives Neal Flaherty - Manager Farmers Union Lawrence Bryan - Farmer Raymond Dawson -Newspaper Editor Their Common Interest Education Maurus Baustert - Member; Mrs. Gayle Werner - Secretary; Lawrence Bryan - President; Warren Miller - Vice President; Raymond Dawson - Member; Neal Flaherty - Member. 3 MR. Wayne State HIGH SCHOOL Each person should be accepted into the educational program as he is. He should be provided with a stimulating environment and opportunities for learning experiences which will affect continuing satisfactory adjustments to life. Education is for all of the children of all of the people; made possible through the efforts of all of the people. Education should be looked upon as an opportunity and not an I-have-to.” An uneducated individual lives with many fears. The world is against him, or so he believes.
