Into a world, divided into two camps, engaged in a cold war there go thousands of fine young folk. They are the very cream of our youth. They are the graduating seniors of 1949. It is our earnest prayer and sincere faith that they will have the stability of character and soundness of judgment necessary to bring order out of the chaos into which their elders have allowed the world to drift. Regretfully we see them go forth to accept the challenge, but we do not harbor a single doubt as to the final results. They will meet the challenge as youth has done since the beginning and if there be such a possibility as world peace, the present generation will achieve it. Our blessings go with you, Class of 1949, May Health, Happiness and Contentment be your lot. Supt. H. E. Your conduct has not always been faultless, but I know you possess those qualities of character which will guide you in noble living, and worthy attainments if you act in harmony with the dictates of your own minds. It is my sincere wish that your high school years have been of real and lasting profit to you, and that you may be successful in your chosen undertaking of life. Foreword Memories, being immaterial, are extremely difficult to capture on the printed page. It is the only hope of the 1949 BEAVER Staff to place sufficient material between these covers to serve as a constant source of stimulation for the construction of memories within the readers’ own mind. Dedication Throughout the eight years that Mr. Walter F. Peterson has been the Vocational Agriculture instructor in the St. Edward High School, many honors have been bestowed upon that department. From there has issued forth, under his direction, six State Farmers— one being also a Nebraska Star Farmer. We of die BEAVER Staff of 1949 believe that the dedication of this book to him should be given as a token of heartfelt gratitude from those whom he has helped.
