The main purpose of attending a Catholic school is to get a firm knowledge of our faith. Here at St. Dominic we have not only the facilities to do so, but also the excellent teachers who help us to accomplish it effectively. We are given a deeper insight into the Scriptures, Christian morals and the Mass, in our first three years. As seniors, we are given a practical course in Matri- money and Apologetics. During Sister J o se ph Marie's Religion ll class, Glen Sand, discussion leader, points out the Liturgical Changes in the Mass. Father l-larrer's recollect- ions of the l-loly Land make the Old Testament come to lite for his fresh- man students.

EGLIH One of the most important subjects ofthe Saint Dominic High School curriculum is English. An introduction to the classics, the fundamentals of composition, and gram- mar comprise the first year course. Vocabulary, a study of the novel, and paragraph de- velopment are emphasized in the second. In the third year, formal and informal essays, the short story, biography, fiction and poetry by American authors give an appreciation of the masters of literary works. The study of symbolism used in literature and the critical analyses of books and magazine articles constitute the bulk of the fourth year English. x x Kristine Olsen, '67, displays the medallion she won tor her essay, The Signiticance ot the World's Fair. She was awarded a SIZES prize. Steven Birmingham, Ann Cowden, Veronica Connelly, Robert Harper, and Francis DeVine master the tunda- rnentals ot debate under the tutelage ot Sr. l'losina. Seniors begin class with a choral recitation. A perusal ot the Readers Digest will tollow. 83
