Among the many aims of THE STUDENTS' PEN is the training of future writers of Our generation. The knowledge acquired through participation in high school journalism is not only that of the mechanics of newspaper work, but also a greater comprehension of the influence and power wielded by the press. Thus, the newspaper's far-reaching effects indicate the im- portance of publishing the truth. The misunderstanding arising in the world to- day between nations can be eradicated by setting forth in our newspapers and periodicals the democratic way of life, based on C0d's com- mands to man. We will attain an increased un- derstanding and respect for others, and in turn, others will learn to understand and respect us, if we lay down the sword of dissension and take up the pen of integrity. Can there be a more horrible object in existence than an eloquent man not speaking the truth? -J' STAFF OF THE STUDENTS' PEN , Now, Terry, it's just this word here . . . Accuracy is the middle name of Joe and Ted, especially when it's a question of sports. To fit or not to fit . . . that is the question. Peg and Pat search for space that will bring out the art to its maximum value.

The 1955 STELLA MARIS presents the theme, The Brotherhood of Man and the Fatherhood of Codfi The staff believes this theme to be especially appropriate for this troubled gener- ation, living in a period in which prejudice and hatred would triumph over tolerance and charity. Vive have worked diligently to fashion this year's publication into an interesting and unforgettable record of our past school year, We have endeav- ored not only to present to our readers realistic and unique pictures of our classes and school activities, but also to impart to you our opinions on one of our present-day problems, social in- justice. The stand we have taken is motivated by staunch Christian principles, which stem from our diversified education in a Catholic high school. Now if we only had a ninth period history class everything woul be fine! Gerald Ryan, John Con way and James Rahilly have their problems ar ranging the schedule for pictures. QU- N QT' 9 0 7 view!! 9
