FRONT ROW: Leo Reardon, John Bertolino, Robert Walsh, Martin Fenlon, Patrick Conklin, The 1955 basketball season started off with an easy victory for the Hilltoppers as they defeated WESllJllFy' with a score of 57 to 37. Then the tide changed and thc Blue and White bowed to Glen Cove, losing by 15 points. The first home game was played by a new. more determined Westbury and this victory was not so easily won. as the Green Wave strove to make up for the loss suffered in the first clash. The 66-52 score. with St. Dominicis on top, indicates the effort was futile. The traditional game with their town rivals. Oyster Ray, gave the Hilltoppers their second defeat. The next two games netted one win and one lossg a thrilling victory over Se- wanhaka. won by a one-point margin. and a defeat at the hands of Vest Hempstead. The Catholic League opened for the Hilltop- pers at Seton Hall. where they registered an- other victory, 50-'13, Next year's squad will not have the able ser- vices of seniors. co-captain John Bertolino. John Ahearn. Patil Waters, Kevin Casey. Joe Nlartir- ano. Patrick Enright. Leo Reardon. and Martin Fenlon. but Coach Maznr places his hopes on underclassmen John Soviero, John Purcell. Bob Walsh and Pat Conklin. For the fine record of our team we thank our coach. Mr. Mazur. His principlefnsports should make men of characteruswas ever evident. and is what the players will remember always.
