THE SOPHOMORES ln all the world St Dominic High is lust a little school But here in Lewiston for those who take part in its activities 1t is the one they cherish above all others Nearly two years have passed since l first came here During that short period I have caught up with the enthusiasm of the students and the spirit of the scho it My first year passed with its successes and failures There are how ever some events that are unforgettable not only for n e but also for the whole class The day we retelved our first report cards for instance l was fortunate enough to be an honor student Other s would have preferred to be sick abed that morning but rot as seriously as our home room teacher who underwent an emergency operation that same day After Brother Mederic made the announcement through the loud sr r iking system and told us that the situation was critical we all tell on our knees to recite a fervent prayer It is on such occasions that the attution hetween the students and their teacher becomes obvious Faster than we had expected vacaticn time c inn Attr r this 1 months ot rest we were ready to enter the sophoniuf ,at ii V11 in cl cl res cause some call this year the suffer more ye ir ll right it th have in mind the new subie ts we must study C l t 1 nrt s w ere you can t guess is another Besides tt Q rg r Ns air longer Our class president Oliva Paradis ion 1 I t t t l 1 he army Reginald Desltochers who was vice president has tu n hr sen to take his place Wilfrid Pewee Dufour a popular athlete of our class is also in the army Not long after he was inducted he was seriously hurt With his habitual courage he pulled through and he is now in the best of health This year our class has kept its quota of representatives on the honor students list ln the field of sports the sophorrores helped to carry our teams to victory and even to fame wherever they played Their enthu ia m determination and sportsmanship made us feel proud of them and their teammates Right now we are doing our share in the War Bond drive The boys are working hard to reach the goal set forthe school To those of the first class who graduate in lurie we offer our sincere r 1 igr itulations and wish continued success We will try to maintain the traditions they have left us and preserve the spirit that characterizes St Dominic Richard Casavant 47 x , 1 - . . .
