in our pursuit of the Way, the Truth, and the Life? For here is a religious Order spe- eially devoted to the attainment of sanetity through the seareh for and spread of truth and learning. From its birth, hundreds of years ago in the golden age of universities, it has made the pursuit of knowledge an integral part of its monastie program. With sueh a plan, we are not surprised, then, to find that the Dominiean Order has, during the past seven hundred years, fur- nished the Ch ureh a eonstant stream of theo- logians and thinkers whose one eoneern it has been to defend the integrity ofthe Faith against the onslaught of her enemies. In divers ways its preaehers, teaehers, philoso- phers, painters, musieians and arehiteets hare brought Chrisfs spirit into the hearts of men. It is the spirit of these edueators, striving earnestly for the salvation of souls and the progress of humanity, that we nou' bring to you, exemplihed by their SYMBOLISM- their language of aetion, that kind of poetry in religious life that inspires derotion and aids instruetion-that spirit breathed into it at its hirth hy its saintly Founder, Saint Dominic, the Peerless Educator.
