some Off1Cl2l announcement To us lt was somethmg much talked about and planned for but somehow unreal and 1ntang1ble We were teenagers we were 1nmpat1ent we wanted act1on It was not unt1l graduatlon day 1955 when Hls Excellency our Most Reverend Blshop deflmtely and off1c1al1y stated that construct1on would start that the dream was really on 1tS way to becom1ng a reahtv September brought much Joy to the hearts of the students Although our beautlful lawn and tennls courts dlsappeared 1n the pro cess we gazed 1n awe upon a huge cavlty whlch meant only one thlng construct1on had begun and we would enjoy the new ed1f1ce before our graduat1on day As the weeks passed and gradually the framework began to take on a deflrnte form I consldered myself qu1te pr1v1leged After When the cold weather set ln work was naturally stalled We took advantage of th1s dormant stage to become more acquamted w1th the plan for the f1n1shed 6d1f1C6 Here IS the general ldea The entlre L shaped wlng w1ll be four storles hlgh The flrst floor w1ll conslst of dlnlng rooms kltchen and storage room The second floor w1ll house classrooms and a llbrary Sleeplng quarters w1ll make up the thlrd and fourth floors Only the presently confmed students and faculty can der1ve the full sat1sfact1on from the wlde open spaces 1nto Whlch they w1ll soon be mov1ng What joy there was when steel began to mount sky ward 101 , ' . 1 l T g T T . l v X y I 9 ' l y ' X x , My ' , 1 v , l 1 - , T l , y . . . . The New Wmg IS bufmmng to take shape Thr Nt ss Wlllg Because of my bemg an alumna daughter St Cyr1l Academy was not really new to me when I arrnved as a freshman I had spent many happy hours h re v1s1t1ng w1th my parents and I also grevx fam1l1ar w1th my future Alma Mater through the SIOFIGS that Mom told about boardmg school l1fe One of her favorltes was woven around the constructlon of th1s our present school bu1ld1ng I used to Slt spellbound as she told me at what great sacrlflce our Slovak people bullt the Academy to fu ther the educat1on of the1r young daughters Llttle d1d I rea11ze at that t1me that durmg my educatlon here a huge add1t1on would be made to the bu1ld1ng Upon the completlon of St Cyr11 s as 1t stands today the S1sters and glrls were overjoyed at the prospect of room to spare However as one graduatmg class after another left Alma Mater to f1nd 1ts place ln the world the student body kept 1ncreas1ng at Such a rate that bv the t1me I came 1n 1954 we were actually cramped for space Thls necessnateu requ1s1t1on1ng the Vllla for sleepmg quarters for fresh men 1n addltlon to the Jumors Fat1ma Hall Wh1Ch has been ut1l1zed Sl 1C8 1950 A new w1ng was 1n the offmg We knew lt and eagerly awalted 100 1. . . .
