Although the name of the school paper has always horne our l,ady's colors. this was the first formal dedication ceremony. Before an especially erected shrine of the Blessed Virgin. senior editors passed on their respective offices to their successors. As they did so they presented a candle sym- holizing a letter in the name of their patron. Maria. Upon receiving the lighted candles the five new editors interpreted a virtue from the lite of the Blessed Virgin which they adopted as a standard in their work on The Blue and YVhite. They then placed their can- dles in a czuidelahra hetore our Ladfs statue. lfach staff member in turn advanced to the shrine and lit a candle. after which all united in reciting a pledge of tidelitv to uphold the qualities ot' merit. amhition. responsi- bility. initiative. and alertness.
