A wide variety of activities is offered to the students, ranging from activities which are designed for special areas of teaching to activities which are recrea- tional in nature. Members of the staff serve as advisors to the many athletic groups and other organizations which grow out of this depart- ment. The courses are designed to teach the individual to communicate to and with others through speeches, writings, and group discussions.
