GOLF Last spring's cold Weather proved to be the principle enemy of the Huskie golf squad. After but a short practice time, the golfers traveled to Winona to be soundly beaten by the Warriors. After a Week's Work of improvement, the Mankato Indians were edged out by a score of 7-5, While Bemidji followed the example of Mankato and dropped a 8-4 verdict. The sparkling achievement came when the Huskies traveled to Detroit Lakes to compete in a triangular tournament With Bemidji and Moorhead, and Walked off with a ringing 12-0 victory. After another triangular match at Bemidji where Huskies placed a close second, the conference meet Was held at Mankato. The Huskies managed to place third as the local In- dians romped to an easy Hrst. --99.. ,'vA,L TENNIS 1948 The St. Cloud Teachers 1948 tennis team was composed of Tom Wad- hams, Paul Ussel, Bud Schmid, Louis Jackson, Byron Johnson, and Bud Davis. The Huskies did not fare too well last year but prospects for this year promise to be much better. The conference tournament was held at Mankato where the Huskies placed Paul Ussel and Bud Davis in the semi- finals of the dou-bles where they were defeated. The team also had dual meets with Mankato, Bemidji, and! Winona. All of the above named men won letters and Ussel, Schmid, and Davis will be back next year to help the Collettimen redeem some of T.C.'s lost prestige- on the courts. SPLASH CLUB In the past years the Splash Club has been putting on a water show, The Big Splash. Because of a large decrease in membership, we were unable to put on a show this year. However we have been sponsoring a recreational swimming program for men and intend to continue with the Big Splash next year.
