ur jflsfor ln September of 1953, forty-six students enrolled in St. Clare Walker High School as eighth graders with Miss C. Holmes who is now Mrs. C. H. Carter as their sponsor. These students came from four elementary schools, namely, Shiloh, Saluda, Syringa, and Beverly Allen of West Point, Va. We were a little happy-go-lucky, because we were entering our high school days which are the best days of a student's life. As freshmen, with Mrs. C. S. Thurston as our sponsor, we became better acquainted with the school, teachers, and students. We took active parts in such activities as the band and choir. Frank Sutherlin went to Georgia as a member of the quartet, representing the N. F. A. Better experienced and more aware of the importance of a high school education, we entered the sophomore class with Mr. A. C. Lomax, our sponsor. We were more interested in our work and spent much more time in study. We were all very proud to be sophomores. No longer an eighth grader or a little freshman, but sophisticated sophomores. As juniors under the wonderful guidance of Mrs. Easter D. Holmes, we became more interested in our studies and worked diligently. We all looked, forward to that thrilling experience, the Junior-Senior Prom. The theme of our prom 'Sweethearts on Parade' was quite appropriate since each girl was so beautifully dressed that she looked like someone's sweetheart. The prom was successful. Time does ily, doesn't it? Here we are seniors of '58 under the careful and wonderful guidance of Mrs. C. E. Cameron, and now we are looking forward to that most exciting occasion - graduadon. In spite of excitement and thrills, however, graduation carries with it traces ot sadness. We go our various ways to face problems that are more difficult than those experienced in high school. It was an honor for the senior class to have had Nancy Kidd crowned Miss St. Clare Walker' of '58 for going over top in the February 22 rally. Looking back over the years, we have accomplished much, but there is so much more for us to do in life. Although our enrollment has' decreased to twenty-one students, we are very proud and happy to share in the history of St. Clare Walker High School. We'll always be loyal arfd true to her and will try to uphold her to the best of our ability. ffanlfxeff 'Miss 51, C131-e Walker High School Sarah Nancy Kidd 5 A if 'a-17? ' 7 1 r ,rf ' 'W s X v -J'
