JE VIE SOUVIENS The Magl And surely of all the characters ln the Chr1stmas Play the Nlagr yy ere the most rmposmg wrth therr long robes of fire worshrpers the flourlsh of srlk and 1 brshops mxter They had a perfectly orlental look The cast of players m cluded a kmg wrth a crovyn of costly jewels angels rn tulle dresses and snoyx vyhrte wmgs soldrers clad ln armor that clmked and clanked yyhenever they took a step All looked lrke apparrtrons from a farry book but there IS no doubt yyhatsoeyer that had the wlse men of old been present they would not haye seemed more reallstxc than the 'Vlagr of our Chrrstmas play There was Irene Goulet one of the most am1able classmates ll has been my prrvllege to meet durmg my course of study Her graceful and strong frame and steady gaze of her hazel eyes the self assurance of her smxle and the sllght slant of her tossed up head rn fact eyerythmg about her gaye one the rmpres sron of a self possessed person facrng the world that day and takmg her part serrously She was dressed rn a crrmson robe trrmmed wrth ermlne The curtam rose and rn walked another xmposmg character Irene Pate naude I-Ier appearance was at once unexpected mayestlc and prepossessmg The statelrness and ease of manner wrth whrch she entered mrght almost have been compared wrth that of a courteous salesman trylng to sell us hrs products Her smrlmg face and kmdly ey es her arrstocratrc nose and humorous mouth rmpressed us favorably though the brown powder on her face made her a b1t uneasy A dress of red brown rayon and a gold colored tram completed her costume An unsurpressed murmur of approval ran among the audlence at her appearance I had the lmpressron that rt was a very mstructrve and altogether fittlng play for Chrlstmas I feel certam that many persons and especrally the lrttle tots after seemg the play had a much better rdea of the real sxgnrncance of Chrrstmas MARIE Rtlxe CORDFAL 40 -nf 47 +4- . .
