Dundr. omior CZQ56 A couple of years ago we were Freshmen and just learning the ways of high school. Now we are juniors and have been well guided by Miss Ammon and Mr. Heskett as our advisors. WVe have some important things to do as juniors, the most important of all being the junior-Senior Prom. This is our courteous way of saying goodbye to the Seniors and we all wish them good luck. - To raise funds for the Prom, all the juniors have helped with work, such as the junior Class Play, and the coat and hat check during basketball games. YVC believe we will be well guided by our oflicers who are: President. Bill Streetg Vice-President, Shirley Spontaneog Secretary, judy NIcGlumphyg Treasurer, Nlryua Ludeg Student Council, Bill Stanchina and Frank Opatrny. XVe hope that we can carry on as well as the Seniors ahead of us did. unior Ofihceu Seated, left to right- Myrna Lude, Shirley Spontaneo, judy NlcClnmphy. Standing - Bill Street. To belong to this society is the highest honor to be bestowed on any high school student. The selection of members is based on four things: high scholarship, rendered service. lead- ership, and character. Each year a list of juniors and Seniors having these qualities is given to the members of the faculty. They select five per cent of the lunior Class, and ten per cent of the Senior Class whom they believe to be deserving of this highest of honors. A great tribute is paid to those who are se- lected. ff' agiwdenf 6141405 The Student Council is made up of the Presi- dent, Vice President. and two representatives from each class. and the President of each or- ganization. lts purpose is to aid in directing the extra-curricular activities and to promote good sportsmanship in all phases of high school ac- tivities. This year the Student Council began working on the introduction of an activity per- iod during school hours. A poll was taken of the student body to find out what students par- ticipated in the various activities. The Student Council also held its annual Freshman Day or- ientation program, when each freshman re- ceived a newly revised handbook issued by the Student Council. The proceeds of the full-length movie shown each year was given to help the Projector Club buy a new screen for the audi- torium. XVith the excellent help of our advisors, Miss Harrop and Nlr. Shannon. the Student Council is making constant progress in promoting sports- manship and harmony in our high school. Schi-Schan 38 tm- First row. left to right - NI. Callahan, A. Lehman. L lltmson. The main project of the club is the showing of classroom movies. This is done by boys, who have study hall that period. The funds for the club come from the full length movie, which is run daily during the noon hour. Another project is the public address system for assemblies. A new service this year is the announcing of all home basket- ball games. Still another is the use of a record player and amplifier to any school organization requesting them. The National Thespian Society, Troop 429, of St. Clairsville lligh School, has ten members, and when the plays were finished a new group was initiated into the organization. lt is a rewarding experience to receive a Thespian xnernbership card, for that is a sxnybol of high achievement in all phases of Dra- matics, which includes acting, sound effects, painting scenery, and make-up. Each year the Thespians, in co-operation with the Draniatics Club. pro- duces a play, The Thespians are active in all plays produced in our high school, working for higher standards of dramatic achievement.
