Lars Drescher is 16 and came to St. Clair from Aarhus, Denmark where he lives with his parents, a brother, Peter, 24, and two sisters, Karen, 21, and Lise, 19. While in America he lives with Mr. and Mrs. Tim Zobl . Lars ' hobbies are swimming, chess, scouting, music, and parties. Lars likes the driving age in the U.S.; in Denmark it is 18, as in most European countries. He finds that the schools in the U.S. and Denmark are much different. In his country, the teachers change classes, not the students. When Lars returns to Denmark he will have three more years of high school left to complete. Francisco Javier Simon Barallorbre is 16 and came from Betanzos, Spain where he lives with his parents, and three brothers, Antonio, 19, Juan, 18, and Miguel, 15. While in St. Clair he ' s staying with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Zobl. Javier has many hobbies, among these are taking pictures, riding bicycles, listening to music, and spending time with his friends. Javier likes American schools because of the many different clubs and after school activities that are available. He also likes American television, except for all the commercials. He finds that the difference between our two countries is the space. In Spain, things are much closer and easier to get to. When Javier returns to his country, he will have one more year of school and then will go on to study at a university. 8

Neighbors Gaby Harms, age 17, is from Hamburg, West Germany. She lives there in an apartment (shown) with her parents and her brother, Kay, age 19. During her stay in St. Clair she is living with Dave and Carol Sheets. Gaby has many hobbies, among these are knitting, reading, dancing, and basketball. What she likes most about America is the space; everyone has their own house and the schools have enough room for things like pools, football fields, and tennis courts. There are many differences between our country and Germany and Gaby lists some of these as the driving age (in Germany it ' s 18), the public transportation (in her country it ' s a much more popular way to get around), and the weather (not so many very warm or very cold days). When Gaby returns to Hamburg she has three more years of high school left to complete after which she will go on to study Foreign Languages. Roberto Buere Wazen Jr. is age 17 and came to St. Clair from Rio de Janiero, Brazil where he lives with his parents, his brother Fernando, 16, and his sister Ana Maria, age 21. During his stay here he lives with Willi Ebersole. Roberto ' s favorite hobby is soccer and he likes America for its technology advantage over Brazil. Roberto explains that the weather is the main difference between the U.S. and Brazil. When Roberto finishes high school he plans on going into agriculture. 7
