Mr. Tharrett was born and raised in Warren, Michigan. After graduation from Ferris, he began teaching at Holy Cross High School where he was in charge of their yearbook The Crusader . In 1966, Mr. Tharrett joined the Business Department here at St. Clair High School and since there had been no Clairvoyant for a year he volunteered to try to get one published. That first yearbook was a success and the Clairvoyant has been improving every year since. It is his hard work and dedication to our needs that make us feel that the very least we can do is dedicate the 1969 Clairvoyant to Mr. Robert Tharrett. ADMINISTRATION Good Leadership Points Not located directly in our school but available at all times for comments, criticism, and de- cisions is the central office. Re- sponsibilities are great for these outstanding people who work in the nerve center of our operations. DR. APPEL Superintendent o- WILLIAM TELLER Assistant Superintendent Curriculum WILLIAM DANNEELS Assistant Superintendent Business Manager the Way to Good Education MR. HUSTON Principal Our principal, Mr. Huston is in his second year at St. Clair and works hard to maintain a smooth running school. He completes his many jobs and still has time to talk with students. The Clairvoyant staff and the student body wish to thank him for his hard work to make our school the best ever. Being the first assistant principal St. Clair High has ever had, Mr. Alley has encountered and solved many difficul- ties this year. Although he is a busy man, he always has a ready smile and a willingness to help each of us with our problems. MR. ALLEY Assistant Principal Behind Every Successful Business MRS. THELMA M. EARL Bookkeeper MRS. EMILY S. MEHLBERG Secretary MRS. ELEANORE COSGROVE Ass ' t. Bookkeeper 8 HAZEL MITCHELL Dietitian MRS. ROSE L. MOODY Secretary There Are Good Secretaries. MRS. McCALLUM Secretary Mrs. Levy - Mr. Alley ' s right hand. She is often in charge of checking to see if our excuses are legitimate. MRS. ROCKER Bookkeeper In a school system such as ours there are many records that need to be kept. All of the students recog- nize the fact that without Mrs. Mc- Callum ' s ability to keep the paper work done, confusion would reign. MRS. LEVY Secretary Mrs. Rocker is the woman with the money. It is her job to keep records of the various school operations. 9 Teachers at . . . I have lived my whole life in Helsinki, which is the capital of Finland. My family consists of a father, mother, one sister and a dog. My father is Master of Forestry, my mother is a housewife. I just love traveling. Skiing is my favorite hobby and I have also played the piano for a couple of years. When I go back to Finland, I still have to attend high school for two years. After graduation I plan to go to the University of Helsinki to study languages. And then, perhaps I ' ll work as a guide or as interpreter in travel agencies. Welcome to Finland! My name is Marjatta Kirsti Interi Nikkila . I was born in Tanpere, April 17, 1951. I have one brother and one sister. My father is a congressman and the principal of the Agricultural College. My mother teaches in my father ' s school. I have two more high school years to go. They do not count this year in Finland. After my Finnish high school I am going to go to the University of Helsinki and I want to become a doctor. I enjoy baseball, skiing and music. I play baseball in my school baseball team. I have played a couple years of piano. Thank you for making my stay so nice. 64 My name is Knud Albert Blond. I was born in Fredericia, Denmark, on June 25, 1951. My father is a contractor and a private driver’s training teacher and my mother is a housewife. I have two sisters that I like Very much, one bom on May 15, 1962 and one older born on January 26, 1950. I graduated from Realskole High School in 1968, and I’m planning to go to gymnasium, which is a kind of junior col- lege, for three years. After gymnasium I want to go to the university and study Biology. 1 am very glad to have had the opportunity to go to St. Clair High School, because I have learned a lot about customs and people in the United States. My name is Aurea Patricia Tapia Nillarreal. I was born in Talea on November 9, 1952, but I lived in Punta Arenas. My father is called Dugustin Tapia and he is a Civil Contractor and also works for National Oil Company. My mother is called Maria de Tapia, and she is a housewife. I have two brothers and one sister. I went to primary school for six years. When I go back to Chile, I have to be a senior at high school, where I shall get my graduation in December. After I finish high school, I am going to the University to study Engineering. My hobbies are playing the piano, and tennis. I came here through the Youth for Understanding Program and I am very happy to be with my new family and my new school. 65 Lining up to march in for their last big moment in St. Clair High School! Interchange of Ideas 101 Student Council Each homeroom in the school is represented in the Student Council. The main function of the Council is to allow students to communicate with the Administration. Students bring their problems to the Council, where the problems are discussed and if important, are presented to the Administration. The Student Council is engaged in many activities. Besides the annual magazine sale, there are other money-raising projects. The Council sponsors the Youth for Un- derstanding Program, a scholarship, and each year sends students to Boys State and Girls State. The big project for the Student Council this year is a bulletin board for the new Urban Renewal Shopping Center. 102 ADVERTISERS o v o kwik c s A 7 e Orange Root Beer Coca-Cola .10 .15 .25 Cones - .10 .15 .25 Q •p -by yy . . .
