Mr. Schwartz was born and raised in Algonac, but has been a resident of St. Clair for the past twenty-two years. In December of 1961, Mr. Schwartz began working as night custodian at St. Clair High School. From 1965, until his accident last fall, Mr. Schwartz had worked as a “jack of all trades ' Presently, Mr. Schwartz is a member of the Children ' s Recreation Committee which provides activities for the youth in our community. Being described as dependable and likable, we all agree that Mr. Schwartz has devoted his time expressively for us at St. Clair High School. B h ♦ r t a t ♦ r n n V DR. The Clairvoyant staff, the faculty, and the entire student body wish to commend and congratulate Mr. Huston for his leadership in our high school. MR. MURVALE HUSTON Principal mb ©ffice taff MRS. At the beginning of the school year we began by selling such booster material as shakers, emblems, and Saints stickers. An interschool computer dance was held March 15 in which 400 people participated. Our most prominent project, and the one in which the majority of the school was active was raising money for building the new football field. 56 j tutumt (£xrham e ELIZABETH GARDE I was bom in Gotten, Sweden, on October 15, 1950. (Ihe 1968 dlatrbnjjcint Editor Editor MARY McCULLY EMILY CHAPUT Editing the 1968 Clairvoyant has been an unforgettable experience for the yearbook staff. Because we all came in as greenhorns, we were unaware of the task that confronted us. With the support of the St. Clair County merchants, and other local societies, the cooperation of the faculty and student body, and most of all the great efficiency and willingness of the staff, we compiled our 1968 yearbook. Our only hope is that in future years more students get the spirit and take interest in the Clairvoyant. It is THEIR yearbook - THEIR memories. It should be more of a school project rather than a minority group thing. Sure, it ' s a challenge - a big one - but not unconquerable. It has been overcome before and we hope that it will be in the future. Remember, one only gets out of something what one puts into it. St. Clair High School ' s Varsity basketball team compiled a fine nine and three record this year and captured the league championship. Coach Arvid Watt had much faith in his 12 man squad, and in many of the games all 12 players were used. Hustle was the key to all of St. Clair ' s victories. They showed the ability to throw the long pass and score on an easy lay-up. Ken Oles was the St. Clair center and was used all during the season by Coach Watt. Averaging better than 15 rebounds a game, he dominated the boards for St. Clair. Jim Paajanen was St. Clair ' s big scorer. When there was an important two points that St. Clair needed, Paajanen was always the key man the Saints relied on. In the rebounding department, Jim was an asset to the team. Jeff Sanders was the leading guard for St. Clair. Being a tremendous ball handler, Jeff was always the key man in bringing the ball up the floor. Jeff could shoot from the outside with surprising accuracy and brought winning a lot easier. Cliff Ingles was the St. Clair hustler. Although not a high point scorer, he was a fine defensive player. Jerry Koryba and Mike Metz were steady rebounders. Les Felter brought in reliable support in the rebounding department also. Steve Scherbarth, a fine shooter could score points when St. Clair needed them. Calvin Rock and Bob Banning, both good handlers, could always come on strong from the bench. Twig Snodgrass, a fine free throw shooter, had the golden touch with the jump shot. Although hampered by a broken ankle, Greg Krenke was doing a fine job in the beginning of the season. Then we have Coach Watt, the man on the bench who is always cut down when St. Clair loses, and receives little credit when they win. Any coach that can take 12 men and mold them into a championship team has to be given a world of credit. A great season for St. Clair and a well deserved one. D.
