SEIIIUH IIHISS HISTUHU The class of 51 entered St Clalr I-hgh School exghty three strong gatherlng lts members from St Mary sand all the rural schools as well as from our own publlc school Mr Eggers advlsor of the fxrst sectlon of the class had as offrcers ln hxs home room presxdent Roy Kapanka sec retary Mary Kraft treasurer Charles Dlstelrath Coach Waytulonls the advlsor of the second sectlon, had as hls offlcers presldent, Earl McCartney vlce presldent Betty Rose treasurer Melvm Marsh Our Student Councll representatlves were Clyde Hasler and Thelma Mlller That year we gave our flrst school party the May Dance whlch was we are glad to say a success The next year we were upperclassmen and made our home on the thlrd floor fThough we complalned of havlng to clxmb the extra fllght of stalrs We now had only seventy one members The off1cers of Mr Eggers homeroom were preslclent Clyde I-Iasler v1ce pres1dent Wxlllam Landon secretary Mary Gr1eg treasurer Shxrley Fordt Mr Saul the advlsor of the second sectxon had asslstlng hxn presldent Sam Webster v1ce pres1dent HarlanM1nor and secretary Joyce Ruff Our Student Councll representatlves were Joyce Ruffand W1ll lam Bllven Havlng need fora class treas urer we elected Joyce Ruff Some of the boys were now playlng Varsity sports and we turned out often to watch the games Thls year Harry Mayhew was elected v1ce presldent nd Joyce Ruff secretary of the Student Councxl We were Jumors whenwe came back to school ln the fall of 1949 with xdeas of ralsmg money for the Jumor Semor Ban quet Mlss Frltz and Mr Eggers were the advlsors who saw us through all our prob lems Our class offxcers were Harry May hew president Dan Beach vlce presldent Sam Webster secretary and treasurer Shlrley Fordt We elected Mary Grelg and Joanne Wxllxams and Charles McMamgal to serve on the Student Councxl To start makmg money, we sold refreshments at the football games Br r r but lt was cold at txmes For the Carmval we put on a minstrel show ln which B111 Landon impersonated Al Jolson. 21 ln the mldst of our Junlor actlvltles our class rmgs arrlved as prom1sed before Chrxstmas We chose for our Jumor play And Came the Sprlng whrch starred such famous actors as Georg1a Cronkhmte Mary Grelg Eunlce Brown Mary J Koenlg Dorothy Sm1th B111 Blwen Ray Ellls Harry Mayhew Don Leach and Dan Thom tamed the sen1ors at the Black R1ver Coun try Club Oh by the way that year we won honors ln the Student Councll ln the sprxng electlons Harry Mayhew was elected pres ldent Dan Beach vlce presldent Dorothy Smlth treasurer and W1ll1am Bllven pub llcxty manager ofthe Counc1l Carol Carrl. gan was elected edltor of the ECHO Now at long last we are sen1ors 'H There are only forty seven of us and of the forty seven only ten have been together srnce klndergarten days Mxss Frltz and Mr Eggers have contmued to serve as our class advxsors Our offlcers are Harlan Mmor presldent Joanne Wllllams vxce presxdent Dorothy Smlth secretary and W1.ll1.am Gearlng treasurer Mary Greig and Joanne W1ll1ams are servzng as Student Councrl representatwes Glamour Boy was our play of the year wrth Ray Marvln and Thel ma Mrller xnthe stellar roles At the Cal' mval we operated the Bowery wrth a truly remarkable floor show A large number of the semor boys and gxrls ran the check room at the Flreman s Ball and also at the Dlamond Crystal program to earn money for the sprmg trlp Joyce Ruff has been a warded the D A R cxtlzenshlpfor gxrls Now remams the long awalted moment the day of the Washlngton tr1p May 14th and after that the wonderful banquet the Jumors w1l1 gwe us on our return and after that Commencement' , . . . . 0 1 ' 1 1 1 , . ..
