F 0 R E W 0 R D Beginning June 21, there will be held in Richmond the forty- second Confederate Reunion. The above date will mark the commencement of the fifth reunion of this type that the city of Richmond has sponsored since the institution of this an- nual event. In accordance with the former policy of RAPS AND TAPS, we have endeavored to select a theme which promises to be of some interest to our readers. The people of Richmond will welcome the return of the Confederate Reunion to their city. If at some future date you should turn again to this book, we sincerely trust that the opening pages will recall to your mind this historic celebration which is to take place within a few weeks. We intend to offer no excuses for the matter contained in the succeeding pages.
