That guy is so short. . .fhow short is he?J he's so short, that he has to stand on his toes just to put on his hat! To many people at STC, the above joke was far from funny. These people make up the population of the school known as the short people. Randy Newman's popular song, Short People brought many laughs to STC, and it also started a 'short people' craze in St. Charles. Whenever a not-so-tall person would walk by, shouts of, Short people got no reason to live! would be heard throughout the halls. But it was all done in fun. After all, everyone knows that good things come in small lshort?J packages! cb 'TTR tail? 'iff f nx Qi 2 ioiunr

rogunr Blizzard burys STC The winter of 1978 was nothing compared to Antarctica, but those who weathered it may tell you differently. Even though Old Man Winter was replaced by the far gentler productions of spring, everyone was still talking about the snow. Winter, which officially ended its three month engagement March 20, produced plenty of statistics, but not too much popularity. There were days when the snow drifts casued confusion in the streets, and school was called off for three days because the busses couldn't run. On December 8, the first major storm dropped nearly eight inches of snow and left 200 schools closed, while zero temperatures numbed the city. The heaviest snowfall came in the early hours on Christmas Day, giving us the White Christmas many dreamed of. But the rest of the winter was something no one ever dreamed of. Sixty-one more inches of snow fell on the city bringing the winter's total to 81.4 inches, 42.1 inches above the normal snowfall amount. No one is crying because the winter of '77-'78 is over. We made it through, but no one is quite sure how. Don Husby . Freshman through senior- everyone enjoyed Saturday Night Fever, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. But there was one difference between the underclassmen and the upperclassmen - transportation. Cars enabled the upperclassmen to travel the few miles out route 64 to the Cascade Outdoor Theater. On Friday and Saturday nights when there wasn't Keg or any parties to go to, the Cascade was a good place to find STC students. Everyone usually went together to the theater, and usually parked near each other, too. There was the normal running back and forth between cars, turning on and off of headlights, and other teenage rowdiness. And no movie is complete without popcorn and something to drink. Of course, there is a refreshment stand at the Cascade, but most kids preferred to bring their own refreshments to the movie. The drive-in was a fun part of STC and many underclassmen look forward to the fun to come next year. ,G-9 Harney
