,- 8'Q51fQ 614 v 7' G In QTHM' 95 -7 Lose, lose, lose ... It seems like high school kids are always worrying about theirweight, and it's usually the thinnest people who are on diets. People having just an apple or a cup of yogurt for lunch became a familiar sight in the commons, as more and more people joined the crowd of STC dieters. Liquid protein diets became a fad among the weight Iifters and other athletes this year. More common ways to lose weight were by starving yourself for as long as possible, or by going on a liquid diet. The liquid diet is when you don't take in any solids at all, and you live on liquids only. Diets were around all year, except on Friday night trips to McDonald's, or those New Year's Eve parties. l l'll start my diet on Saturday. l Exercise was a big help to those trying to lose weight, and gym class was one good way to burn off a little unwanted fat. The Rec Center swimming pool, racquetball, tennis, and weight room all provided methods of controlling weight. Tuesday nights at Delnor brought together members of the Weight-Watchers to help each other in the never-ending battle of the bulge. Diane Hillstrom Alison Hinck Ronald Hoffie Stu Hohm David Holt G . What does chowing down on a nutritious lunch and studying for a 3rd hour American Lit. test have in common? lt's simple. You did both in the commons. Whether it was the main commons or the west, there was always something going on. There was usually something being sold every day in the commons. Party lines, yearbooks, and cookies were just some of the things that AFS, Co-op, Student Congress and other student organizations sold in the commons during the year. The main commons is the only room in the school that has more than two windows, where students can look out to see if it really is snowing, or if it's only a rumor going around the school. Before school, students flocked to the commons to find friends, finish homework, eat breakfast, or just to have something to do. At first, decorations weren't allowed in the commons. But, after students were allowed to decorate it, the commons really became the place to be. Juniors Kurt Sundberg and Rob Kohlhagen take time out from studying to have breakfast in the Main commons.
