Dating: a time to grow Be home by twelve. This is the familiar saying sophomores at STC so often hear. Entering into the world of dating, the sophomore years can be an exciting time. The upper class boys start taking an interest in the sophomore girls, making the soph guys feel left out in the deal. Kegs are popular as the sophomores can go now for the first time. Homecoming and Christmas formal are big dances and a new experience for dating sophomores. Movies are frequented and McDonald's is as important to the sophomores as it is to the upperclassmen. The only problem the sophomores have found in dating is the lack of transportation. Because licenses aren't usually gotten until the end of the sophomore year, the sophs have to rely on their parents for rides. Sophomore year is a time for growing and starting relationships in the dating scene. Many will agree it's a lot of fun! oqdog lll .IO 3 Super Sophumores Just about everything was in a state of confusion this year. One of the most confusing things about it was the election of the sophomore class officers. lt wasn't until well into the year that the tie between the vice-presidents was resolved. The officers were finally announced as Scott Clancy, presidentg Suzanne Dawson, vice-presidentg Jenni Hauser, secretaryg and Liz Smith, treasurer. This year the class officers helped with the organization and building of the class float. The float was good enough to win first place in the Homecoming class float competition. The sophomore class raised money for post-prom, which they were also in charge of putting together. Driver's education: one step closer to freedom Taking in a movie in Aurora and hitting the away sports events are fun - if you have the transportation. Sophs at STC are anxious to get their driver's licenses, a ticket to more freedom. Asking older brothers or sisters or parents for rides is okay once in a while, but it isn't very good for dates. So, until they drive, they take advantage of the exercise and walk, and they take the pep bus to games. The driver's ed. program at STC is a semester course with indoor and outdoor classes at the same time. Many sophs complain they don't get enrolled until well after they are 16. Some choose to take driver's ed. commercially which enables them to receive their licenses sooner. The anticipation of getting a license is great, but the waiting makes it more worthwhile when it finally does come.
