Advice was received from older brothers and sisters, and many hours were spent trying to get together all day with friends. There was some trouble because they were registering for the first time, and signing up took a little longer than expected, since all 600 freshmen were signing up for the same basic classes. Health, English, math, science, and one or two electives were the basic classes. Some popular electives were foreign languages, personal typing, and art. The freshmen learned one important thing this year: with self-scheduling, it's every man for himself! Jil McPherson practices her typing during her typing class, a popular freshman elective.
