Frosh here to stay The freshman class officers weren't identified as l.ori Vitali, Andy Gray, Judy Wyatt, and Sherry Szews until two months into the year because of ties in the fall election. These officers came together at the beginning of the year to create a class float. Although they were totally lost without an advisor or an idea, the officers held meetings, made arrangements, and built a second-place winning float. The class representatives sold candy to make money for post prom and other class-financed events in the future. They worked under the supervison of advisors Sharon Soper and Margaret Birth to build the morale of the class and to generate a positive attitude among the freshmen. 54 gpm! 'SW' ,wxvjkfr . Freshman Mark DeHart studies slides in Biology I, one of the many electives offered to freshmen this year. wa Freshmen have iust begun . . . The class off81 was the first class to go through the new high school for all four years, and the first freshmen in the high school at all since 1963. The common freshman litters were soon quieted after the schedules began taking effect. Classes this year included 7th hour Algebra I with Mr. Gilmore and his jokesg Mr. DeMaar and 1st hour P.E., f Why'd we take it so early? Jg or 6th hour English with Mr. Koeppl, l Will we ever get over those book reviews? jg and all those days spent in foreign language classes stumbling over verbs, conjugations, and vocabulary quizzes. Weekends were filled with Roundabout dances and movies such as Star Wars, and Smokey and the Bandit. Each evening football, wrestling and basketball games ended at McDonald's and occasionally at Pizza Hut. Social groups of freshmen gathered to munch out on french fries and a coke, and to exchange gossip about who was asking out whom, and where Joe or Laura were tonight. The freshman home base was located near the orange and yellow lockers nearthe West Commons where formal study halls were held in total'? silence.
