Spirit Week ends with Valentine Dance lt's not usual to see students at school on Sunday but the Sunday before Spirit Week was different. Students from all classes were here with balloons, streamers, and spirited signs trying to capture the pep of STC and competing for the hall decorating contest. The 1978 winners were the sophomores with their hall a vision of orange and black. The annual dress-up days consisted of T-shirt Day, some of the favorites being Star Wars, Farrah, and various colleges. Valentines Day, wearing red and white. 50's Day, with the greasers, red lipstick and ponytails. Sports Day, everyone dressing like his favorite sport, and finally orange and black day. A freethrow basketball contest went on through the week, the winners, senior Tammy Smith and junior Pat Fitzmaurice were announced and awarded a basketball signed by our varsity basketball teams, at a pep assembly on Friday. The week ended with a basketball game and the Valentines Dance on Saturday night, the events may be over but the spirit still lives on. 1 J, -

In St. Charles, winter must be the longest time of the yearg it seems to extend from November until late April - even longer some days! The colder the weather was in the morning, the longer the bus took to get to your stop, or the farther away from school your parking place became. Winter was more than just freezing weather, winter meant four snow days and many more inches of snow than necessary for those that ski, snowmobile, and ice skate. Mother Nature and her storms didn't prevent anyone from going to hockey games, or watching the STC wrestlers beat Dekalb after 13 years, or cheering at the basketball games and the exciting tournaments! McDonalds was always crowded on the weekends, and the more parties that people threw, the more that were attended. The recreation center pool provided exercise and four-wheel driving became the thing , 19 ul...

vp vt il The Valentine Dance was a big success in the eyes of the students at STC. The Valentine Dance is a very special danceg it's when the girls are asking the guys to the dance which also goes along with the paying of the meal and the price of the dance. Reversing the roles is well liked by the guys who don't have to spend money this one dance out of the year. The band was excellent and of course there was a lot of dancing and everyone looked his best. One of the many couples who attended the dance was Kerry Cavanaugh and Jim Yeck lleftl who exchanged smiles asthey think of the enjoyable evening. The Valentine Dance every year seems to get larger and larger, more girls get daring enough to ask the guys and the guys don't feel as self conscious anymore to saying yes. With the exception of a few lovers' quarrels, the night was a big success and will be a year to year traditional dance. 21
