fLeftJ Sophomore Cindy Martin demonstrates the fine art of throwing a discus. She, along with Sue Manier, Stephanie Robinson, and Sue Newman made up the powerful group of discus-throwers. fBelowJ Beating East Aurora with the score of 68-60, the girls' track team gained an overwhelming amount of confidence as well as energy. Kim Wilkins fleftl and Gretchen Rice frightl, both sophomores, threw on the two-headed, honorary victory poncho and performed the honorary victory dance amongst fellow tracksters. fBelow leftl Two East Aurora competitors look on in amazement as Patty McLaughlin glides swiftly overthe high jump bar. Patty took second in districts with a high jump of 5'1 while senior Anne DiVilbiss jumped a perfect 5'3 . WN! 5 OUTSTANDING is the one word that describes the girls' track team of 1978. With a team record of 9-0 for the season, the girls made it all the way to Upstate Eight Conference, where they made a clean sweep and placed first. This year was quite memorable for .3 the team. The coaching of Ms. Barbara Luckinbill, Ms. Phyllis Swin, and Ms. Laura Sharer, made it a memorable one with their practice makes perfect motto and their invigorating windsprints fwindsprints are an unforgettable experience - it's good for the lungsl. But it all paid off for the team and coaches: they reached their goal of a perfect season. 199
