What's in the air? A birdie! Badminton has become an increasingly popular girls' competitive sport with a conference schedule and tournament. Last year the girls finished second in conference with the doubles team placing first in the meet. The 1978 Saints badminton team ended this season with a record of 6-5. Coach Bonny Hajek, who was in her first year coaching the team, brought the 1978 squad to a fourth place finish in both the conference and district meets. This year's team was very young with only five returning players, Senior Kathy Martin, Juniors Cindy Bolger, Kay Hubble, Cheryl Brewer, and Sophomore Laura Huntley. Even though the team as a whole finished fourth in the conference, a fourth place in districts meant a lot more.
