Golfers suffer dismal season St. Charles' varsity golf team finished the year with a 2-3 Upstate Eight Conference record and a 4-6 overall mark. The varsity placed second in the UEC meet at Elgin, but ended up in third place overall in the conference standings. Mel Mzhickteno carded a 77 for St. Charles in the conference meet, completing the course for a second-place finish. At the Lake Park Invitational, St. Charles captured 10th place out of 18 teams, as Steve Ftosene brought home a 14th-place trophy. St. Charles closed out the season by taking 10th place in the district meet. The sophomores, on the other hand, had an up and down season. r T A 1 Saints in the swim make the most ofthe season Amidst pull-bouys, kickboards, required morning practices, weight lifting, and quality workouts, the Saint swimmers had a successful season. A 5-0 conference record led the girls' swim team, under Coach Bob Teichart, Assistant Coach Dave Bart, and Diving Coach Bonnie Hajek, into the Upstate Eight Conference swim meet only to be upset by the DeKalb Barbs and place second.
