Hangin' out at Mac's To many STC students this year, McDonald's became part of their weekly routine, as kids filled the restaurant, without fail, after games, Keg dances, and parties. Even those not hungry could be seen pulling into the Golden Arches Country Club, only to enjoy the company of others, and later be asked to leave by the security patrol, sometimes referred to as Rent-a-Pigs. The lone McDonald's of St. Charles ranks in the top five per cent of money makers of the 4,200 outlets in the U.S. and Europe today, and it's a money maker for many students who started their working careers at McDonald's. Some crew members feel it gives you a chance to meet a lot of people and see your friends on Friday and Saturday nights - even if you are working. And Friday and Saturday nights were the big nights for McDonald's, as lines formed at the counters, kids crammed into booths, and cars filled the parking lots, even more so than last year. , lt seems that the move ofthe high school across town has effected daytime business, especially during lunch hours, but has not had much impact on the week-ends. Just what is it that attracts so many people to the home of the golden arches? Hamburgers, says Kit Sweeny, '78, People, says Craig Livingston, '78. Not only do the triple-thick shakes and crispy, golden fries draw students to Mac's, but the socializing and bumping into friends encourages people to take a break today. . - in 1 05
