' J ' 'fl Editorial URING THIS YEAR, which marks the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of our school, we have taken pleasure in reviewing our history and recalling memories of Miss Jennie. The school has grown in numbers, but we hope that it retains the spirit which Miss Jennie instilled into every one of her girls-the spirit of loyalty, honor, and devotion to ideals. It is with a certain sadness that we leave St. Catherine's, for these years have meant much to us and we have enjoyed them. From the Lower School through the twelfth class we have felt, Miss Jennie's spirit always. The same thing that makes us reluctant to leave, however, makes us at the same time eager to go out and test our- selves. We want to test this knowledge which we have gained from our books, from working together in our organizations, and from living together in .the boarding department. Our teachers and housemothers have given us much, and we have tried to make the most of the splendid opportunities offered us. Yet the world we face today is very different from that faced by the girl of fifty years ago. The business and professional fields into which women may enter have widened immeasurably. However, besides these many opportunities which we are offered' today, we are confronted with the spectacle of war-a war more horrible than any other. Here at St. Catherineis we have done as much as we were able to help the refugees and the people with whose cause we sympathize. When we leave here this June we shall be called upon to do a great deal more. We must becomephelpful citi- zcns and .take an active interest in the affairs of our country. Let us prove ourselves worthy of St. Catherine's and the standards which -Miss Jennie set for her school. In , . i aw.
