To renew the soul . . . ' . 'I' he St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel E E X The school's new chapel was the dream of a theologian, Father Valerian Iasinski, the pencil plan of a priest- architect, Reverend Ioseph Myrda, and, the single- minded energy of Sister Verona, Prioress. In simple, clean, contemporary design the chapel artfully combines the talents and crafts of many men. It integrates the theology of St. Thomas with the Catholic doctrines of worship through symbols of beauty and truth. Words are poor vehicles to convey the description of the progression of Cod's revelation to man as graphically displayed in windows, walls, mosaic, wood and terra cotta symbols in this magnificant chapel. To really appreciate this unique house of worship one must quietly tour the chapel with a learned Dominican. To feel its full glory one must hear Mass early on a sun-filled morning as Cod's light, stream- ing through the tall palms and everlasting pines, splashes down on the center altar on which Christ Himself renews the Sacrifice of our Redemption. A picture is worth a thousand words, but behind these chapel pictures are millions of words: all the wisdom of recorded time frozen in a single fiat , the moment of being ,... the I am the Great I am that each one hears in conscience as he kneels in the silence of this Master's-piece. The Sisters of St. Catherine's are planning a single booklet to tell the story of the chapel. Until its pub- lication these few paragraphs must inadequately suffice. A religious landmark of Southern California, the new chapel, dedicated in 1958 stands at the corner of Harbor Blvd. and Cypress St., Anaheim. Cadets leave Mass from Chapel's rear entrance.

In Appreciation St. Catherine's Military School is grateful to all of its parents, friends and cadets, especially to those who are at present serving in its Parents' Guild, and on the Iubilee and Yearbook Committees, to its Alumni, Ad- vertisers, Benefactors, Patrons and Donors who in the interest of its 75th Anniversary have sponsored this Iubilee Book. Special mention should be made of Mr. Robert Kretschmar, Guild president, for his wise direction and constant encouragement, and to Mr. William Hoerner, Guild Vice-president and fund-raising chairman, for his efficient organization and energetic persistence in bringing this Iubilee Yearbook to completion. Recog- nition should also be given to Mr. Ernest Schworck, photographer and to the other members of the editorial and production staff. The Sisters have always been and are now deeply aware and genuinely appreciative of the numerous ef- forts of their many lay friends who through the years have given their time, money, and varied talents to the success and continued growth of this Dominican School. In a larger sense we are all benefactors of those who preceded us in all walks of life and in all ages of man. They left for each of us a rich heritage both of wealth and wisdom. VVe build on the blessed foundations they have laid. For shouldering with compassion the many tasks of the school, whether through labor, capital, or prayer, the Sisters of St. Catherine's are forever grateful for your generous gifts.
