Yes, it will always be our school. Many of us were but small infants when we were entrusted to your care. You accepted us as your own. You fed us, clothed us, comforted us taught us to read and write, and above all you taught us to know and to love God. As a small measure of our feeling of sincere appreciation we pledge our assistance in what- ever capacity we can muster. Pope Iohn XXIII, Holy Father of the Church, loved by all men, Christian and non-Christian, living symbol of God's grace, spoke the purpose of the twenty-first Ecumenical Council on October ll, 1962, in a simple sentence: To embrace the gospel more fully, to re- form the Church, to understand our separated brothers and for them to understand us. Old in years, yet young in spirit, Pope Iohn brought to the Papal Throne a magnificent mixture of mind and heart.
