Rancho Ortego was under the dark cloud of a mortgage held by jake Kraft. A legendary Indian curse was placed on the Rancho. Medicine man, Pose, claimed that the curse would be lifted only when the Mission bells would ring again. When, under the clever plotting of Jake Kraft, herds of cattle disappeared from the Rancho, a brave young Indian chief, Lone Eagle, volunteered to bring them back. Gow Long, the unnoticed Chinese servant, who saw and heard everything, quietly stole away to ring the bells. All ended well, for the bells rang, the curse was broken, Rancho Ortego was rescued from the wiles of Kraft, and future happiness was in prospect for all. 67 Q 7 C . 7 tzeens eeves agw challenges .QD ayetzs7 mefile With a touch of paint and a whisk of the broom, Players immersed themselves into a whirlpool of activities. A fired-up Don Bosco team came out on the gridiron to outplay, outclass, and outscore the Black and White 37-7. This gave both the Angels and the Dons a 6-1 record and a share of the championship. A second black mark marred the Angel '53 record when they lost to Madison Edgewood, 28-21, in their only non-conference encounter of the season. Mutchler and LaBrasca rounded out their three-year careers in fine fashion by putting on a great exhibition of running and passing in the second half.
