xwxmxs - s s mmmmxxxxw Shortly after the in- auguration of the '46- ,47 Student Council a problem arose,confront- ing the Council with a most difficult situation. The cold months were approaching rapidly, and during this period, the use of out only rec- teationalfacility, the out- doors, was both improb- able and impractical. Faced with this situation the Council set to work. The only conclusions to be drawn were hrst to provide a reliable sub- stitute for the facilities we did not have; and secondly to promote stu- dent interest in a hat- monious program of ac- tivity to the extent where the lack of facili- ties would not be no- ticed. From its perplexed but hard-working group the SC. contrived a Rec- reation Organization. The first problem was solved when the audi- torium was secured as a means of providing rec- reational facilities for indoor activity. The sec- ond problem was solved when a program, involv- ing everything from games to dancing and basketball, was prepared, some of which are por- trayed in above pictures. During the winter months the auditorium was the scene of high in- terest. Following a sys- tematic arrangement, each Tuesday and Wed- nesday was reserved for games such as cards, checkers, ping-pong and even fiddlesticks. X .neq hi , x ls: P'wanp-n-t-II-pg ,

The 1947 Casmitecho, a chronicle of St. Casimir High School, its students, activities and achievements of the yeat, has had a super edition. The staff labovel tite- less and cooperative carefully planned and produced all details which crystallized into attractively completed pages. Its outstanding members were: F. Kociemba, M. J. Kaminski, artist, and E. Olson tcircular insetsl. The Casmirette now in its eleventh year of publica- tion comes to us as a neat printed copy. N0t many people outside the actual staff tupper leftl know the hard work and long hours required to publish the school news. Yet, the only reward the members ask is that the students enjoy the paper. J. Popowski, the editor-in-chief has piloted the Casmirette staff through another successful year. With the departure of Sr. M. Emmanuel who has been elected Supervisor of Schools conducted by the Felician Sisters, the Casmitette is in the efficient hands of Sr. M. Benvenuta as moderator. An intensive subscription campaign was put over successfully in the early part of the year. The drive began with a rally in the auditorium with B. Batt- kowiak as mastet-of-cetemonies. Among the variety of numbers presented, a few are portrayed by the pic- tures in the lower left. After several musical renditions, the Barber Shop Quartette held the assembly in high spirit with their vocal renditions. I Widuta and T. Btodzinski besides waltzing interpreted the Russian Ballet. M. A. Kumor and A. Wojcik, J. DuBorgel and L. Zapinski joined in with fanciful styles of melody. With H. Klebanowski as his charge and the Casmitette as his part, E. Gapa dramatically recited a poem of his original composition. Indeed, the response in ads and subscriptions was gratifying. The School publications have served as an im- portant factor for promoting student activities as well as recording successfully the life of St. Casimir High School. . 1- ! t; t
