Its a tremendous word. One that has stood for sacrifices and bloodshed, sorrows and losses. Now, after years of fighting we trust that peace and satisfac- tion shall be ours in the World of Tomorrow. The same inner peace and satisfaction comes from the knowledge that for four years we have been trained for just such a step as we are now taking. When one carries peace within onels selfeto pass it on to others is not too difficult a task. As YOU glance through these pages of out treasure chest of memories, we trust that the ideals and high principles of truth and consideration for others, which were ever deeply inculcated in all our classes will be evident to you. THUS WE leave St. Casimir School to begin our life in that World of Tomorrow. We know that by carrying these ideals and principles with us, we feel assured that it will be one of Peace! The cold months were approaching rapidly, and during this period, the use of out only rec- teationalfacility, the out- doors, was both improb- able and impractical. Faced with this situation the Council set to work. The only conclusions to be drawn were hrst to provide a reliable sub- stitute for the facilities we did not have; and secondly to promote stu- dent interest in a hat- monious program of ac- tivity to the extent where the lack of facili- ties would not be no- ticed. From its perplexed but hard-working group the SC. contrived a Rec- reation Organization. The first problem was solved when the audi- torium was secured as a means of providing rec- reational facilities for indoor activity. The sec- ond problem was solved when a program, involv- ing everything from games to dancing and basketball, was prepared, some of which are por- trayed in above pictures. During the winter months the auditorium was the scene of high in- terest. Following a sys- tematic arrangement, each Tuesday and Wed- nesday was reserved for games such as cards, checkers, ping-pong and even fiddlesticks. V Citronic er; of Sclzoof oaxg The past year has been one of momentous happen- ings; a year truly to be remembered. The 1947 Casmitecho, a chronicle of St. Casimir High School, its students, activities and achievements of the yeat, has had a super edition. The staff labovel tite- less and cooperative carefully planned and produced all details which crystallized into attractively completed pages. Its outstanding members were: F. Kociemba, M. J. Kaminski, artist, and E. Olson tcircular insetsl. The Casmirette now in its eleventh year of publica- tion comes to us as a neat printed copy. N0t many people outside the actual staff tupper leftl know the hard work and long hours required to publish the school news. Yet, the only reward the members ask is that the students enjoy the paper. J. Popowski, the editor-in-chief has piloted the Casmirette staff through another successful year. With the departure of Sr. M. Emmanuel who has been elected Supervisor of Schools conducted by the Felician Sisters, the Casmitette is in the efficient hands of Sr. M. Benvenuta as moderator. An intensive subscription campaign was put over successfully in the early part of the year. The drive began with a rally in the auditorium with B. Batt- kowiak as mastet-of-cetemonies. Among the variety of numbers presented, a few are portrayed by the pic- tures in the lower left. After several musical renditions, the Barber Shop Quartette held the assembly in high spirit with their vocal renditions. I Widuta and T. Btodzinski besides waltzing interpreted the Russian Ballet. M. A. Kumor and A. Wojcik, J. DuBorgel and L. Zapinski joined in with fanciful styles of melody. With H. Klebanowski as his charge and the Casmitette as his part, E. Gapa dramatically recited a poem of his original composition. Indeed, the response in ads and subscriptions was gratifying. The School publications have served as an im- portant factor for promoting student activities as well as recording successfully the life of St. Casimir High School. . 1- ! t; t , xr mu: gnaw -mlvr-e htu ,-r;v.v.1w v- -IMVXVTh .5... A On Thursday and Friday an organized student group conducted exhibitional and community dancing, and before long a newly developed concern for the art had been developed. With the dawn of the regular basket- ball season, a system for conducting Boys, and Girls, Intra-Mural basketball was set up. With the conclusion of the Basketball Season, inter- est in recreation activities, though not expected to fall off too considerably, had to be revived. Naturally a varied course of activity is much more appealing, and with the cold weather subsiding more outdoor facilities were provided. Taking advantage of this the Depart- ment established a working agreement With the Faculty to provide for a volleyball team. The game progressed exceptionally well, giving climax to a varied healthful outdoor and indoor recreational activities program. 7, h V, e, 4 h, , Catt Trusting in Mary the Queen of Peace to n has carried out a successful program of under the competent direction of Sr. M. After functioning for a number of years on a more or less improvised program of activity, the Student COuncil of St. Casimir, according to its advisory head, took steps toward raising the status of Student Govern- ment in cooperation with the High School Administra- tion, The sponsorship of the N .A.S.C. tNational Asso- ciation of Student Councilsi was applied for and ac- cepted; simultaneously, the sixteenth annual election was held and the new officers were chosen to lead in a revised system of student cooperation in school man- agement, the essential fundamental of an adequate school program. The officers elected were : Earl Gapa, President; Stanley Wojciechowski, Vice-President; Grace Kaminski, Secretary; Sylvester Rumps, Treas- urer; and Ted Ozog, Sergeant-at-Arms. The campaign was climaxed with the first General Assembly, at which the President and his administra- tive colleagues were sworn. After the oath of office, Sister M. The S.C. convened for the first time on September 18, 1946, where, in launching the year of ,46-47 for the S.C., the President sternly stressed the study of Student Council Activities by its members, that they may establish an eHective functioning organization, a staunch defender of the guiding principles of the high school. Among the many projects undertaken by the S.C. was a Recreation Department, at the head of which was F . Kociemba, his Secretary E. Olson, and Treasurer S. Rumps Uowey left-p. 5N. The Recreation De- partment program was a problem, dealing at first with the acquisition of further recreational facilities and equipment. With but a few days of letdown shortly after the program was launched a rousing enthusiastic group replied, and even now the interest is high. Suc- cess, the ultimate goal, has been fully achieved. The most important group organized throughout the year was the Student Patrol, headed by the aggres- sive mighty-mite Sergeant-at-Arms, Ted Ozog. A co- ordinated system of patrol of the halls by monitors, carrying out simple but definite traffic regulations was found to be the best method of handling traffic con- gestion caused by students. This plan was adopted and followed throughout the year and was a main factor in helping to relieve the burden of the Faculty, among the other things. The Constitution of the Athletic Board tappeif 17. am was probed and a new system was set up. With the Student Manager and Varsity Captain as Co-Chair- men, a smooth-working efficient athletic board was soon established. Cooperation is the very life and blood of a Stu- dent Council, and the St. Casirnir S.C. should be very healthy, for every letdown or success was accepted by all as a working unit. The co-ordinatecl efforts of the S.C. members and Faculty helped to secure successful student participa- tion in school management, and in a few years many of those who helped make it so will be the foremost Citizens of this great nation. $ andwuw...a-..-pm. wn . mp , ,. . . . jredAmen . . . , V..H..M.. r Why... ...... --. .4 -m4-..:.4.v...;z;;.. 4!.ng . -VM .v Robert Adamczyk, Patricia Almas, Sylvia Andrzejewska, James Bazner, Phyllis Bazner, Helen Bednarka, Ed- mund Bednarz Norman Biernat, Thaddius Bonkow- ski, Jerome Catka, Lorraine Cenzer, BarBara Ciesielski, Theresa Denten, Pauline Duda Raymond Galecki, Dorothy Gazda, Edward Giera, Joahn Gladkowski, Stanley Golanka, Edward Gorny, Constance Gulvas Theodora Guzinska, Maryann Hill, James Horger, Thaddius Jaskot, Rose Kajder, Caroline Kaminska, Christine Kedziorek Ruth Klein, Dorothy Klenjnowski, Dolores Kolaska, Theodore Kolnitys, Leonard Kos, Robert Krajewski, Loretta Krusinski Gertrude Kurnick, Marlene Kutz, Roseline Kwiatkowski, Joseph Lan- dry, Dorothy Langa, Phyllis Laskaw- ski, Patricia Laskowski William Lovendosky, Elizabeth Lukasiewicz, Elizabeth Machowska, Irene Malec, Richard Malolepszy, Raymond Maruicci, Helena Maszu- manski Patricia McMahon, Loretta Merlo, Bernard Michno, Stanley Mikulec, Margaret Miller, Mary Jane Millins, Emily Narkun Florence Nikodem, Walter Nowa- kowski, Alfred Paruch, Dolores Pie- traszek, Sylvia Percha, Geqrge Pion- tek, Conrad Podulka Phyllis Popowski, Josephine Rajda, Joseph Rumps, Constance Sibole, Helena Sizen, Robert Skotzke, Richard Smentowski.
