This was tried. he continues. but it was not successful because studies and boarding of stu- dents require a great outlav of money. Students of more prosperous parents were therefore required to pay month- ly, 310.00 the first year, 58.00 the sec- ond, 56.00 the third, 54.00 the fourth. and 32.00 the fifth tthe first year was taken as the Praeparanda classy. This was the scale for students who aspired to the priesthood in the Fran- ciscan Order. Other students were asked to pay 515.00 monthly every year or to add as much to equal the sum of 315.00 after changing their intentions, when leaving of their own accord, or after expulsion. In 1916, the tuition for the first group was 375.00 annually, and 33150.00 for the second group. By 1929, tuition fees were raised to 5175.00 and 5300.00 respectivelyg in 1939, 5225.00 and 5275.- 00 and 3350.001 and in 1950, tuition reached its present peak of 3300.00 for room and board and 3100.00 tuition. Unfortunately, the complete pay- ment of tuition by all students never was accomplished in the history of the lc-ont. nn ln. ZH!
