506602, Varsity The Girls' Varsity Soccer team has had an ex- tremely exciting season. We started off the year as a young squad and have become a very strong established team. We entered into the season with high expectations and proved ourselves to be a ma- jor CIF contender. Our offense was led by Stephanie Stronks, Sharon Holbrook, and Krystal Tucker. Sharon Holbrook was the leading scorer with an average of two goals per match. Our defense stood tough with Azalie Nickleberry and Annie Moses holding off their contenders. The season was finished with high hopes for years to come. GERNMI Hill 1. Ann Moses sets to clear the soccer ball. 2. Kim Kline revs up for the big boot. 3. Sharon Holbrook goes for the goal. 4. , -Y volleqlmll This year proved to be pretty tough for the Lady Vikes, but through it all they never gave up. The team came in third place in the Camino Real League and Went to the first round of play-offs. The award recipients at the banquet were Julianne Masted, MVPg Kim Verboncouer, Most Inspirationalg and Dorothy Merifield, Scholar Athlete. Three players were nominated to All League teams: Julianne Masted, first teamg Suzanne Bartch and Kim Verbon- couer, second team. The girls should be admired for their deter- mination and perseverance throughout the season. Since the team was fairly young, next year looks very promising for the Viking Volleyball team. Special thanks should go out to Mrs. Naughton, who coached the team throughout her pregnancy. Team members often thought she was going to go into labor during some of the ex- citing matches!
