Qoccm. Varsity Three games into the Camino Real League season, the St. Bernard Varsity Soccer team is already in control. They have scored an average of five goals per game while only giv- ing up one goal per game. Their current record is 3-0. The defense is led by Senior fullbacks Vince Dell'Ollio and Rod Landis, and goalie Andres Roque. So far they have nullified nearly every scoring opportunity presented by the opposition. The agressive style of play shown by the defense has in- timidated the offense of our opponents. The offense is led by All-CIF halfback Danny Melendez. Working with his other halfbacks, Jason Lucky and Ricardo Rodriguez, they have created many scoring opportunities that have been completed by forwards such as Fer- nando Garcia, Rob Lambeth, and Ken Szager. With seven games remaining in league, if the team can continue their aggressive team play, they can hopefully bring a third consecutive Camino Real League championship to St. Bernard. 1. Ken Szager looks inside for a goal opportunity. 2. Rob Lambeth goes between the opponent's legs. 3. Jason Lucky is on the good foot. 4. Todd Johnson uses his head in and out of class. 176 SOCCER

Junior Varsity The Junior Varsity Soccer team was led by first year coach, Bill Matthews. The season was a demonstration of how the young Vikes showed their competitive spirit and a great desire to win. This was shown by several blowouts of teams in their league.
