arose courrlvq GIRLS' The Lady Viking Cross-Country teams, both Varsity and JV, were once again victorious this year, ending their lealiue competition with both teams as undefeate league cham- gions. The Varsity Lady V' ings also went on to CIF competition and placed second in the outhern Section Fin s at Mt. San Antonio. This is the second year in a row the Lady Vikings were so dominant. Outstanding individuals on such a strong team are numerous. The team was led by the always consistent captains, Breena Talamantes and Patty Rosen, who battled back and forth the entire season as the number one seed on the team. Coming uplright behind them were our juniors Kim Madison, Toia Thomgson, and Carla Swinson, w o made our depth unbeatable as they ran in a very tight pack. d finally, strong perfor- mances were always guaranteed by sophomore Tara Guillaume when they were needed for a win. Junior Jayana Patel also ran arsity in CIF finals when Senior Devona Tungyoo was injured in the reliminaries. Running on our undefeated Junior Varsity squad was the Sunshine League .l,V Champion Sophomore Jeanette Serrano, and she was aided by two very promising Freshmen, Jennifer Woods, and Lisa Moxley. Team awards were Breena Talamantes, MVP, J ayana Patel, Scholar Athlete, Toia Thompson, Most Improvedg Tara Guillaume, Coaches' Award for Excellence, Jennifer Woods, Rookie of the Year, and Patty Rosen, Vikin Harrier.
