Business Demands Diligence Daily routines of the hectic business World were emphasized this year to instruct and to prepare students for their possible future business careers. Typing, Shorthand and Secretarial Procedures were among the numerous courses presented to all pupils. Visiting the Data Processing in Groton, Conn. en- abled classes to visualize the use of machinery for the complexities of business. Each informative lesson gave valuable experience to all business classes. Ann Mooney takes a quick glimpse at her next speed drill in typing. Winifred McGuire is mindfully keyed into her daily typing practice Ioyce Gardner applies the principles of Business Law as Elaine Donnelly continues to study. 33

Math Introduces Film Slides Each student offered her own creativity in solving difficult Mathematical problems this year. Helping her develop this ability, the Mathematics department provided courses in Algebra, Geometry, Senior Math and for more advanced pupils, Consumer Math. Film slides were initiated to establish better com- prehension along with the use of overhead projectors to illustrate the complicated conceptions involved in Math. Intense thought and will power stimulate the probing mind of Nancy Stuart. Uncertainty is aroused as Ann Cavasin ponders over a calculation. P. Faria queries the validity of an axiom as K. Hanrahan ponders. Donna Shaughnessy and Eileen McCarthy concentrate with powers born from necessity in comprehending mathematical properties. Numerous Algebra II equations elude Ann Plourde's drifting mind.

With careful deliberation, Patty Shaughnessy applies her Spanish skills. We Understand Others To broaden our horizons, the modern language department has exposed its students to the various civilizations and cultures of their respec- tive countries. The use of films and slides has supplemented the academic program. As in previous years, the semester was climaxed by an informative Franco-Spanish Fair. Each student has the opportunity to encounter the ancient language of Latin, since it is corn- pulsory for all those 'capable of mastering it. After two years of learning the foundations, Latin is available for students Wanting to ad- vance their skills. Combining these Latin III and IV classes provided a new method of teaching for this year's Latin department. An interesting Spanish article concerning developments of Spanish culture has caught the attention of Carrie Vestuti. 34
