The Editors of the Bernardian '72 feel that certain things need to be said and acknowledgements made concerning the publication of this book. The yearbook should be a reflection of the good times, and, for realism's sake, the bad times, which make up a year of our lives at SBC. In this time of cynicism we hope that this year's book presents at least some of the progress which represents the true spirit of Bernard. This is what we should look for, and remember about St. Bernard and not the sometimes underhanded moves of some here who seek only personal gain, and use their power to pursue it. While meeting with opposition in regards to the BERNARDIAN '727 we found that everywhere there was opposition there was equal and opposite support. We found that for every POLITICIAN playing against us, there were two people there to help. We hope that we have produced a book which is representative of what the maiority feel toward Bernard. We wish to thank several people, without whom the book would have been much more difficult to produce. Martin Fisher, our moderator until his departure in February, and often moderator by proxy thereafter, was a tremendous help, both actually and psychologically. Mrs. Marian Mullin stepped in to assume the duties of moderator near the end of the year when we needed her to fill the slot. Mrs. Helen Glasscock showed interest in the book and helped us smooth over some rather touchy details. Fr. Aloysius, with an already overwhelming work-load, gave us tremendous support in the publication of the book. We appreciate very much his always being there when we needed him. Numerous people made up our staff and helped us put together what was eventually to be the BERNARDIAN '72, Tom Steckel stayed with us until the book was packed and in the mail. Jamie Carberry and Mary Jo Brown helped with the headache of circulation. Tom Barden arranged pictures and did layout. Br. Charlie Secundus, Mark Mages, Jeremiah Alston, John Hunt and several others helped with lay-out. We wish especially to thank John Kearney, Marty Gavaghan and John Jenkins, and the entire SGA for subsidizing an additional 38 pages to allow us to cover more of the events of the past year. We hope that this BERNARDIAN will recall for you some of the more memorable moments at SBC in 1971-72. Ll2er, Editor HJ renda onner, -Editor f Ltndio.. o-Meg! 9
