REV. GEORGE SHERRY, Religion Father George, our Sophomore Religion teacher, came to us after attaining the rank of Major as a chaplain in the army From him we learned how Holy Mother Church survived throughout all the eras of time, true to the prophecy of Christ. Father George helped us to understand Popes Urban Il and Ри ( and their achievements. As far as we are concerned, he has succee | as a teacher, just as he has in his service to the country REV. TERENCE O'CONNOR, O.S.B Physics, Camera Club Moderator The qualified Physics instructor at the Bee Hive is Father Terence. His easy going manner and the ease which he conducts experiments and demonstra tions has caused many a Junior to sit astounded at his mental capacity. In terspersing his intelligent lectures with lively anecdotes, he has gained an ever- lasting popularity with his students REV. LAURENCE GRASSMAN, O.S.B Physical Science, Chemistry A staunch advocate of visual education, Father Laurence devotes at least one period a week to a film of scientific nature in his course in Physical Science He uses innumerable types of demon- strations in imparting to us his vast knowledge of the wonders and mysteries of the physical and chemical worlds. REV. JUSTIN CSANYI, O.S.B. French, Freehand Drawing Father Justin teaches Senior French and instructs the Sophomores in the funda- mentals of freehand drawing. VERY REV. MICHAEL COLLINS, O.S.B. Chemistry, German Auf • Deutsch, bitte, und sitz dich hin, spoke Father Michael to our Ger man class. He speaks no English, for he is afraid that we would get used to it He is equally proficient. as a chemistry teacher, instructing the class in рагіог tricks , as he affectionately calls his experiments, Father's course, although somewhat difficult, offered us a thorough understanding of chemistry fundamentals. REV. GENADIUS DIEZ, O.S.B. History, Latin Our third year History course was pre- sented to us through the untiring ef- forts of Father Genadius. Skillfully, he guided us through the medieval and modern history of the world, noting with special interest the history of Spain. He also educates the Sophomores in the finer points of Caesar's Gallic Wars. REV. MARTIN BURNE, O.S.B. Religion, German It is mainly due to Father Martin that St. Benedict's has developed ¡ts peerless music department. One of the busiest priests at the Bee Hive, he teaches in- strumental skills to the former tin- eared students. Along with these mu- sical chores, he instructs Senior Religion and Junior German. REV. EDWIN MULLEN, O.S.B. Geometry “Nice speech brother, what does it mean?” With these words, Father Ed- win would reprimand any Sophomore with the audacity to hand him double talk. The Geometry teacher would draw his parallelograms and arcs with unfail- ing accuracy, trying to get us to do the same. Along with teaching Geometry, he supervises the cafeteria. REV. GERALD FLYNN, O.S.B. English Congratulations are in order for Father Gerald who is completing his twenty- fifth year as a priest and teacher at St. Benedict's. It is beyond his com prehension how anyone could forget the immortal phrases of Percy Bysshe Shel ley or some other well-know n poet. We believe that there is no English word that Father Gerald cannot pronounce, spell, and define correctly. 2 Seno £

REV. LEO BEGER, 8 Latin, Golf Coach Pater Leo venit and he remained For ten years he has been taking the Sophomores through the intricacies of Julius Caesar's Gallic Wars. His clever puns and “tid-bits' on the lives of the Romans will remain in our minds long after the A.A.'s” (ablative absolutes) and the “D.P.'s” (deponent verbs) are forgotten. REV. ANSELM MURRAY, О.5,В, Mathematics, P.T.A. Moderator, Religion Everything from counting apples to figuring tangents was included in our Freshman Algebra course—but we were in the competent hands of Father An- selm. Не used the simple teaching method of instruction, demonstration, and then drill, drill, drill, until we had no doubts. He is also the efficient moderator of the Parent-Teacher As- sociation. REV. OWEN HUDSON, O.S.B History, Alumni Association Moderator Notes, essays, and outlines were Father Owen's weapons for drilling Ancient History into us. After the first quarter marks had been given, he gave particu- lar attention to the students that flunked, and by the end of the first semester they knew their history. Father was a unique teacher, but he brought us through our first year of history at St. Benedict's with a better under standing of the matter, as well as the work necessary to attain good marks in the subject. REV. CORNELIUS SWEENEY, O.S.B. English During our Junior English course we were made aware of the importance of facing reality by Father Cornelius. We will remember the immortal works of Chaucer, Shakespeare, Milton, and other famous authors to which we were in- troduced. After having been buried in the “Elegy in a Country Churchyard” and “Lost Paradise , we were brought back to life with his teaching that Christ will reward us if we do our best None will ever forget the English we learned in Father Cornelius' class. REV. COLUMBA RAFFERTY, O.S.B. History, Teloldg Adviser, Senior Moderator We entered the Senior History class with the presupposition that it would be a picnic, but were quickly shaken out of this delusion by Father Columba's rousing voice. As Senior Moderator, he has had a hand in all our social activi- fies, and concerned himself with our problems, both scholastic and personal. As Telolog adviser, he drove us relent- lessly that we might have a yearbook comparable to the best. He is not only a teacher to every Senior, but a friend as well.
