AOMINISTRATION REV. PHILIP HOOVER, O.S.B. Headmaster Father Philip, our Headmaster, is completing his eighth year in office. Under his administration, we saw the end of study per- iods, casual dress, and senior smoking privileges. In our Fresh man year, he encouraged student participation in sports, and two years later re-instituted the custom of bi-weekly assemblies Having had a hand in every phase of our work, he has given us the spiritual and material advantages of Christian education. Dean of Studies A qualified man for a Herculean task—that’s Father Nicholas While assisting the Headmaster of the school, he is also the Dean of Studies. The thought of being sent to Father Nicholas sends chills through the average student, and spurs him on to better work. This, then, has been Father Nicholas’ part in putting us through the Bee Hive

I SF т E 1 | k eos - VERY REV. MATTHEW HOEHN, O.S.B. Librarian In the person of Father Matthew, St. Benedict's is fortunate in having a thoroughly qualified librarian. For thirty years he has been helping students read their way through 23,703 volumes of which the library boasts. His agreeable nature has made him consistently popular with the Bees for these many years - Ми ум BROTHER DENNIS ROBERTSON, O.S.B. Office Staff Brother Dennis carefully inserted the exam sten- cil into the mimeograph machine, then proceeded to roll out countless copies. This is indeed a trying task; it is said that one Latin test was so hard that it broke the machine. Without the lanky brother, the students would have to struggle through continuous subjective tests, in which they “exhaust the topic” a AM BROTHER MICHAEL SCANLON, ۰ Infirmarian Healer of the sick, comforter of the afflicted and guardian of the infirmary—these words are an apt description ot Brother Michael and his work. With gentle hands he cares for the dis- abled Bees; yet, ready to spot fakers with his eagle eye and turn them down with his lion heart. HALO ая a REV. MARK CONFROY, O.S.B. Guidance Director The vocational problems that have confronted us at St. Bene dict's have been solved chiefly through the efforts of Father Mark. We were placed in either a scientific or classical course in our junior year, according to tests and Father's personal knowledge of us. The task of selecting a college was made con- siderably easier by his suggestions and assistance in gaining en trance to them. Father also taught us Freshman English. BROTHER EDWIN AUSTIN, O.S.B. Attendance Clerk The silent brother leaned across the desk. and handed us our late slips. Brother Edward is Father Dunstan's adjutant in charge of tardiness, absentees, and other matters that do not reach the inner sanctum. Capably, if circumspectly, the good brother performs his duties. MR. PHILIP RAFTER Registrar One of the first members of the administration a prospective student meets is the registrar. For the last twenty-six years, Mr. Rafter has occupied the position of registrar, and in this capacity acts as bursar. In spite of the little contact he has with the student body, he manages to keep in his mind every stu- dent's name and record, as well as everybody who has ever graduated from the Hive.
