SC president, K. Urbanik, lights the initial taper of the Advent wreath as P. Maksimowski and fellow SC members assemble for this liturgical function. Old Glory gets a boost from SC members, K. Buchanan and J. Galla. SC represents the student's voice in school government. Our twenty-six member Council has set its sights high in hopes of creating better harmony between faculty and students, of im- pressing the importance of school privileges and their corresponding duties and obligations, and improving school spirit. 1 1 .5 -f-- . .. 7 1. ' -' 10 SC's significance is universal, but its opera- tions distinct. Western Pennsylvania Student Council Convention, held at SBA in 1957, gath- ered district representatives for a two-day session of problem and idea exchange. Proof conclu- sive that SC is the Voice of the Student Body- Blue print of Student Action. Studying new methods for improving Student Council are SC president, K. Urbanikg vice-president, J. Tirak, secre- tary, M. Rinderleg and treasurer, P. Maksimowski.

They realize that a knowledge of the basic classroom subjects must be supple- mented by sound principles of Christian living. They have taught us to direct our minds and wills to be conformed to those of God, our Creator, they have inspired within us the need of guiding our life's goals with two principles in mind-God and Eternity, they have given us faith in the past, courage for the present, and hope for the future. Jxuusf, To Student Aides is extended the credit of building and maintaining the friendly atmosphere here at SBA and keeping order in the halls during school hours. A right arm of Student Council, this organization func- tions for the welfare of all students, offering guidance as well as service. Ever vigilant at their posts, they are always ready and willing to direct visitors and uphold student regulations. By their constant alertness, Stu- dent Aides can truly be considered helping hands to both faculty and students. Studious but alert, Student Aide R. Falconer, proves every mo- ment counts. Aides, M. Thaler and S. Hill, are at stations even before uniform regulations are effective. For P. Eastman and K. Kanis service and Stu- dent Aides are synonomous. ll
