'S CLASS HISTORY W It was four years ago on a pleasant autumn day 1n 1954 that a group 1' Q of spry eager freshmen flrst entered the portals of St Bartholomew Hlgh School Among them were Genora Wade Julla Hampton Brenda Walker and Glorla Jacoway who had already attended St Bartholomew Grammar School and W1ll1am Cleveland Leroy Macon and Charlyne Worthen who jolned them from St Augustme s 1n North L1tt1e Rock These are the few from that large freshlnan class who became Senlors Our subjects that year were general math general SC16HC9 world hlstory Engllsh and rel1g1on taught by Slster Rosata Slster Herlbalda and Father Koeller We had a glrls' basketball team durmg that year also The sophomore year began w1th a bound We had a few new addltlons but they dropped out agaln As we look back we see many l1ttle mlschlevous 1nc1dents for wh1ch we now are sorry We studled b1OlOgy algebra l1terature Engllsh and rel1g1on Some of us took typmg S1sterlVIar1ta and Slster Antsxla were our teachers Durmg that second year we went on a trlp to Plne Bluff f It 1S w1th prlde that we remember that 1n our class were the w1nners of the CYO and TB essay contests The Jun1or Class gathered 1n September 1956 and was welcomed by Slster Alphons our homeroom teacher of that year Vera Dotson Donald Vaughn Florence Sm1th James Allen Joseph Parker and Vernon R1chard son Jolned us from Horace Mann and Jones Slster Alphons d1d a wonderful Job of tralmng and preparmg us for our role as senlors That year our sub jects were chemlstry Latln I geometry l1terature Engllsh and rel1g1on We V1Slt6d AMZSLN College 1n the sprmg of our jumor year Q Durlng the summer vacatlon Father Koeller was transferred and ln September we welcomed our new prlest Father Lawrence Frledel Patr1c1a Gulden Wallace Smlth Donald Washmgton Velrna and Queen Esther Jordan Barbara Evans and Stanley Natharuel Jolned s Thls year meant strenuous work ln Latm ll problems 1n democracy c1v1cs Arkansas government Engllsh l1terature and rel1g1on Our home room teacher was Slster Super1or Herlbalda who urged us on to do our best to reach that coveted goal graduat1on We can proudly add to our hlstory that thls lS the f1rst senlor class 1n many years to have a bas ketball queen Now as twenty senlors look back over the years we reallze more and more what our school has meant to us Wlth grateful hearts we shall always remember our dear Alma Mater as we reluctantly close the hlstory of the Class of 1958 C harlyne Worthen eg., DONAHUE'S X WM F BINZ IRON WORKS DRUG STORE Ouuaauonlallaaa Wai nm: rmfwm c rd Home of 'OSC Donahue's Foot Lot1on0n L TL!
